Tranquil lakeside hideaways in the UK
Penned on the 18th October 2023
There is something utterly soul-soothing about being beside a body of water, the way the sun dances across its glistening surface or how raindrops therapeutically ripple through the stillness. It makes us feel grounded, bringing a sense of calm to our busy minds. It’s also a wonderful way to disconnect from the bustling outside world and reconnect with the elements of our natural world. So, immerse your mind, body and soul in nature for a little while and retreat to one of our tranquil lakeside hideaways…
Hayley’s Hut | Devon | Shepherd’s Hut | Sleeps 2 | Hot tub | Dog-friendly | Wood-burner
The epitome of peace and tranquillity, Hayley’s Hut promises a restorative getaway in a beautiful location. Welcoming 2 guests and your four-legged friend, there is an abundance of outside space for you all to enjoy. In the heart of it all sits the mesmerising lake, idyllic no matter the season or time of day. Picture an autumnal morning, wood-burner lit and coffee in hand, gazing across the lake whilst snuggled in a cocoon of soft linens. Or how about an alfresco brunch in spring as you feel the subtle warmth of the sun for the first time in the year. Why not take to the lake on a balmy summer’s eve, rowing the romantic boat along the water, before rustling up an alfresco feast in the outdoor kitchen? And once the sun has slipped away and the moon and stars appear, sink into the heavenly hot tub and enter a dreamy state of relaxation.
The lake is well-stocked with freshwater fish and the owners are happy for you to bring your own rod if you’d like to try your hand at fishing during your stay. They do ask that you kindly return your catch once finished.
Tresahor Lodge | Cornwall | Cabin | Sleeps 4 | Dog-friendly
A magical family getaway awaits at Tresahor Lodge, our enchanting escape hidden away in an old granite quarry near the Helford Passage in Cornwall. Last used in 1906, this remarkable location is steeped in history - having some of the best granite in the area with rumours that it provided supplies for the second build of London Bridge. The serene lake adds something extra special to your stay in nature. Younger guests will love heading out on the pedalos, whilst you get stuck into a good read on the ‘beach’ or why not give fishing a go during your stay. Cooking and dining is an experience itself here; whip up a feast inside the hideaway or the magical barbecue hut, then enjoy alfresco whilst gathered around the impressive table, handcrafted from an old mill stone, overlooking the tranquil lake… bliss!
Please note, life jackets must be worn during your time on the water and children must be supervised. Unfortunately, you cannot swim in the lake.

Admire the Koi Carp whilst practising mindfulness on the wooden jetty, and for the old school romantics among us, the lovely rowing boat makes for the perfect evening on the water. After a day full of adventure, slip into the bubbling hot tub with a glass of your favourite and toast to a special getaway spent in nature.
