This cosy, dog-friendly shepherd’s hut just two hours from London is perfectly placed near an abundance of wonderful walking and cycling routes, including the South Downs Way, the Literacy Trail, Leith Hill, Chanctonbury Ring, the Downs Link, Pitch Hill and Cissbury Ring. After a day of adventures on foot or by bike, cook up a delicious culinary creation and enjoy it in the lovely outdoor seating area. Pull out the maps and plan the next day’s adventures as the flames in the fire pit flicker away.

The stunning walking routes close to Holsome Hideaway include the Avon Valley with lots of wonderful footpaths, and the rugged landscape of Dartmoor National Park, which can also be seen from the hideaway. Explore the area’s rich history, rare wildlife, and even some dreamy wild swimming spots. The South Devon National Landscape is also close by. After a day of exploring, return to your inviting abode and soothe weary legs in the bubbling hot tub, before relaxing on the decking to admire the beautiful scenery over a glass of something refreshing.

Nestled in the foothills of Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park, there are ample opportunities for exploring, from moorlands to mountains, and coast to castles. Take a few moments on the decking in the morning to enjoy the sounds of the natural world waking up around you, before heading out for the day’s activities. When you’re ready to slow down for the evening, relax in the dreamy hot tub and watch the stars twinkle above you.

  

The Eagle | Cornwall

You couldn’t be closer to a stunning walking trail than at The Eagle, as the South West Coast Path is just a stone’s throw from your doorstep. The scenery is breathtaking in every direction and you’re likely to see a host of wildlife when you venture out. When you fancy a break from walking, head down to a secluded cove and enjoy a refreshing ocean dip before continuing on your way. Upon return to your hideaway, take a seat on the deck with a glass of something cold and watch the sky turn gorgeous shades of pink and gold as the sun sinks below the horizon.

 

Ffion | Ceredigion

Start the day by throwing open the doors of this enchanting shepherd’s hut and enjoying the breathtaking mountain views with a cup of coffee. When you’re ready to pull on your walking boots, you (and your pooch) can enjoy spectacular hikes along the Cambrian Way, leading past the incredible Devils Bridge Falls. If you want to explore further afield, you’ll find the famous Claerwin Valley nearby - one of Wales’ most popular spots for walkers. Upon your return, light the fire pit and cosy up to watch the sun set over the valley.

From waterfalls to mountain passes to underground caves, the Dales offers a dazzling playground for adventure lovers, and your dog will love it too. It’s also a mountain biking hotspot, so a great place to explore by pedal power. The North York Moors National Park is nearby as well, offering even more options to explore.
