Railway carriage with a wood-fired hot tub in Yorkshire: Nestled in nature, boasting sweeping vistas of Yorkshire's beautiful countryside, is where this upcycled railway carriage awaits. A totally unique and completely magical retreat perfectly designed for two, with four legged friends in tow.
Overview
Step Inside
As you pull open the double doors and step into your unique home from home, you will instantly be charmed by the stunning, rustic and oh-so-cosy interiors. The earthy colour palette of soft oranges and burnt woody tones, allows you to instantly feel at peace and the subtle stylish railway touches gently remind you of the hideaway's unique history. Being a former railway carriage, the whole interior has had a complete makeover and is now the most wholesome hideaway for you to run away to with the one you love most. To the right of the carriage, you will find the lovely double bed, dressed in beautiful soft linen furnishings. Every detail has been thought through so that the cabin can accommodate two with ease. For example, the fold down table cleverly hangs on the wall to allow more space when not in use. We love the retro chairs, perfectly positioned so you can simply sit back and admire the spellbinding view, with a glass of wine in hand. The perfectly compact kitchen can be found to the left of the carriage and is well-equipped with everything you will need for your stay in nature. There's a fridge, kettle, single electric hob, combination mini electric oven, air fryer and grill. And the ensuite shower room is just the spot for refreshing after your morning dip in the heavenly wood-fired hot tub.
Outdoors
From dawn till dusk the outside space at Sammi's Freight is a dream. With plenty of places to sit and enjoy your morning cuppa, you can simply wake slowly knowing you have complete privacy. And, as the sun begins to disappear beyond the horizon, enjoy an evening tipple in the balmy golden light from the warmth of the wood-fired hot tub. Dog owners can relax knowing that the whole patio area is enclosed so four legged friends can roam freely. We told you; every detail has been thought through to ensure your stay allows you to switch off and simply be.
Explore
Nestled close to Richmond, known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Sammi's Freight couldn't be in a better position for exploring North Yorkshire. Richmond is a historic market town with a Norman castle, cobbled marketplace and home to the fast-flowing river Swale. For history lovers the market town of Barnard Castle is only 10 minutes away, also known as the entrance to Teesdale where you'll find the Bowes Museum and multiple walking routes that your four-legged friend will love exploring! For more historic locations, the impressive Raby Castle can be reached in around 20 minutes.
For adventure seekers, be sure to pack your walking boots as there's so much to explore in the Yorkshire Dales. From waterfalls to mountain passes and underground caves, this historic landscape is somewhere you will never forget. A little further afield you will find the North Yorkshire Moors, a National Park not to be missed. Sweeping moorland, a rugged coastline, ancient woodlands and postcard pretty villages await. Forged by nature and shaped by generations, allow yourself time to discover this magical corner of the UK. Wherever you choose to explore during your time in Yorkshire, you will love returning to your hidden haven and simply relaxing under the stars.

Absolutely loved our weekend in this converted train carriage. So much attention to detail and all the space was utilised to make our stay very comfortable. Lovely host as well making us feel very welcome, bonus milk and cake which was a lovely surprise. Would definitely recommend a stay at Sammi's freight train.

Our 2nd stay at both Sammis and Albies and another fabulous stay. So relaxing, chilled, everything you need to recharge. Friendly hosts, beautiful surroundings, well worth a 3rd booking!!! We'll be back in the summer!

An okay place but overall rather disappointed. A nice building but there is no attention to detail with the fit out. Things were broken, no matching glasses to drink from, and the location is different to where the map shows. The two huts are on the edge of the car park with people walking and driving behind all the time (although the front looks out over a nice field).

Lovely view, quite and full of nature, you wouldn't know you were on a farm!
It would have been nice to have a bit more information about the local area and the hot tub ready to use on arrival.

I had a wonderfully restful break. The 'truck' was a cosy, quiet little haven with beautiful views over the field to the hills beyond and I was very comfortable there. Friendly welcome from the owner; amazing soak in the hot tub; lovely bimble about on the farm's land; lots of wildlife to sit and enjoy; comfy bed and pillows; nice big towels; slept like a log and even though I was there alone, I felt totally safe. Very happy to recommend.

Sammis freight train is lovely cabin on a farm. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The cabin is dog friendly and fenced in so that my dog could wander freely and safely.
The cabin views are stunning, bed very comfy, kitchen well equipped and the hot tub was lovely touch. I will definitely be back.

Perfect stay - the carriage is cosy and perfectly formed. It has everything you need and is so warm even in freezing cold February! Lying in bed looking out over the dales all snug while listening to the rain was honestly idyllic. The location is great too, near some lovely farm shops for food and on a wonderful farm which has a great track you can walk down. Lots of touristy things only a short drive away as well. The owner Tom is really helpful with anything you need. My partner and I have already discussed coming back for another stay :)

We had an amazing stay!! The bed is super comfy. The hot tub is lovely. Plenty space for cars. There is also a garden centre nearby which does a really good cooked breakfast. The host was super responsive and left everything set up for easy entry.
Overall 10/10 stay I’ve stayed in a lot of similar airbnbs but this one is by far the best.
Only improvement would be to have an air fryer rather than mini oven

Couldn't have asked for anything more during our new year stay.
The accommodation was gorgeous and fat exceeded what we expected. The hot tub was lovely and pretty much up to temperature on our arrival which is great. We didn't get opportunity to use it the 2nd night as it wouldn't heat up - we questioned whether this was due to the torrential rain and wind - however, we have no doubt if we had messaged the owner about it, he would have came to help get it heated, but it was NYE and we were happy staying in the train.
We hope to visit again in the summer where we can make the most of the beautiful surroundings too!
100% recommend.

Everything imaginable was to hand with local farm shops and fresh produce close by catering for our stay throughout.

We had a lovely stay, it felt homely and cosy - perfect for a weekend in October! Everything had been carefully thought and out and the place had everything we required for an enjoyable stay. The host was friendly and approachable but as everything was so clear in the booking we had no queries or questions. The hot tub was great, and it was such a treat that it had been heated for arrival. Would definitely recommend!

Everything about the Freight Train has been carefully thought about. It was very welcoming and cosy. It was lovely to stay in the property and sit outside, although the rain slightly put us off. Its located on a working farm so we could easily contact the owners if needed, but because everything had been taken care of for guests, we didn't need to.

Compact and with everything you could need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday.
Best bed we’ve ever slept in!!

We loved our stay. We wanted somewhere to relax and unwind for the weekend. I booked this last minute and couldn’t be happier with my choice. We brought our dog along who can be quite nervy. Our host was super understanding and knew how to handle it.
He was over in a flash when I text about the oven not working and got it up and running for us.
Lots of lovely walks around that are accessible by car. You can also walk down a mile long path through the farm but unfortunately we didn’t manage it this time.

If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is the place. Totally relaxed stay in an environment that promotes nature at its best. Facilties are set to a very high standard.Hosts very friendly including Billy the pony. We enjoyed late evening walks then relaxing in the tub with a glass of wine.
I would fully recommend ??

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sammi’s freight train. We were greeted on arrival and made to feel very welcome. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Very comfortable bed and good facilities, the hot tub was heated for us on arrival and remained warm for good use all weekend. The stunning views surrounding the property made for a very relaxing stay. We will definitely be returning in the future!
