There’s a fully enclosed garden with a deep pond that’s fed by a natural stream (where the name of this delightful retreat originates from) and a sweet jetty from which to dingle-dangle your feet and fishing rod. Not to mention a bubbling hot tub and, from the viewing platform at the top of the fields, views across the sea as far as South Wales. Set in a gentle valley at the edge of the Mendip Hills AONB, the farm used to be part of the ancient Hutton Estate and is a site of Special Scientific Interest and is a haven for wildlife – from deer, foxes and badgers to kingfishers and buzzards.

Everything about this bespoke shepherd’s hut has been meticulously planned, from the long, low corner windows – which give a breath-taking view from the comfort of the extra-long bed – to the hand-crafted wood-burner, vintage light fittings and reclaimed wood cladding. Lovely Largin Shepherd’s View is set within a 35-acre small holding, close to the picturesque fishing harbours at Polperro and Looe and sandy beaches on the south Cornish coast, tucked into a sheltered tree-lined nook above a wooded valley with views for miles, encompassing the wild walks and ancient tors of Bodmin Moor in the far distance.

A staycation honeymoon or mini-moon means that you can take along the four-legged member of your family too, and Lamb’s Tale Shepherd’s Hut is the ultimate place for such a break. There’s everything you could need, from a well-equipped kitchen to the hot shower to the comfy king-size bed, and the garden is a great size and escape-proof for the dog. Of course, the hot tub is a great place to end the day, with a glass of wine in-hand, watching the stars come out above.
