Honeymoon holidays and marvellous mini-moons

The most special holiday of your life has to be in accommodation to match, right? To give you a helping hand with your search, we’ve put together some inspirational ideas of romantic glamping destinations, in idyllic locations, equally perfect for a honeymoon or mini-moon in the UK, or just a spontaneous romantic escape (perhaps to pop the question!)...

 A PAIR OF LOVELIES

Getaway cabin in the woods

Perfectly private from one another and just as cute as their names suggest, Foxy Loxy and Squirrel Nutkin at Roe Wood offer the epitome of getting away from it all. Nestled into a meadow, within 30 acres of woodland, boasting breath-taking far-reaching views over countryside and farmland to the glistening sea in the distance, you could catch a glimpse of all kinds of magical wildlife here. Their bubbling hot tubs are the place to enjoy the view from by day, glass of fizz in-hand, and, by night, the twinkling stars above. Inside, they are both stylish and comfortable, with all you could need on-hand. All that and they are also within striking distance of both woodland walks and coastal adventures in this special area of Cornwall, and the local pub is within walking distance too – what more could you want?

TREE TOP HIDEAWAY

Rural cabin near the sea

Tucked away in the tree tops with a stream trickling through below, Tree Tops Cabin has a real rural feel, yet is just a hop, skip and a jump from the beach, thatched cottages and local pub in the charming Cornish fishing village of Cadgwith (arguably the most picturesque on the Lizard peninsula). This true hideaway has everything you could need for a comfortable break away from the everyday, with large windows for enjoying the view from inside – whether from the comfy king-size bed or delightful dining area, fully-equipped kitchen and stylish en suite shower-room. In turn, the raised deck is perfect for dining or just relaxing al fresco, and there’s plenty to see and do nearby too, from coastal paths and beaches to idyllic villages.

YOUR VERY OWN EDEN

Shepherd's hut with hot tub and a pond

Surrounded by nothing but nature and beautiful views, Lady’s Well Shepherd’s Hut sits in a gloriously serene and secluded spot – its very own Eden! There’s a fully enclosed garden with a deep pond that’s fed by a natural stream (where the name of this delightful retreat originates from) and a sweet jetty from which to dingle-dangle your feet and fishing rod. Not to mention a bubbling hot tub and, from the viewing platform at the top of the fields, views across the sea as far as South Wales. Set in a gentle valley at the edge of the Mendip Hills AONB, the farm used to be part of the ancient Hutton Estate and is a site of Special Scientific Interest and is a haven for wildlife – from deer, foxes and badgers to kingfishers and buzzards.

HAND-CRAFTED BEAUTY

Rural shepherd's hut

Everything about this bespoke shepherd’s hut has been meticulously planned, from the long, low corner windows – which give a breath-taking view from the comfort of the extra-long bed – to the hand-crafted wood-burner, vintage light fittings and reclaimed wood cladding. Lovely Largin Shepherd’s View is set within a 35-acre small holding, close to the picturesque fishing harbours at Polperro and Looe and sandy beaches on the south Cornish coast, tucked into a sheltered tree-lined nook above a wooded valley with views for miles, encompassing the wild walks and ancient tors of Bodmin Moor in the far distance.

YOU AND YOUR (FUR) BABY

Dog friendly shepherd's hut

A staycation honeymoon or mini-moon means that you can take along the four-legged member of your family too, and Lamb’s Tale Shepherd’s Hut is the ultimate place for such a break. There’s everything you could need, from a well-equipped kitchen to the hot shower to the comfy king-size bed, and the garden is a great size and escape-proof for the dog. Of course, the hot tub is a great place to end the day, with a glass of wine in-hand, watching the stars come out above. And the location couldn’t be better – less than a five-minute walk and you’re in the Quantock Hills – fantastic walks and jaw-dropping views – sit for a while and feel like you are the only people in the world – bliss.
