Overview

Inspiring adventure at every turn, step into a world cloaked in ancient Cornish woodland at Kudhva, an incredible 43-acre site nestled in the wilds of North Cornwall. Cornish for ‘bird’ after the striking design marking the entrance to the cabin, Edhen invites you to take roost in the treetops as you soak up the jungle-like views through the canopy and down to the swaying ferns below. Calling to all who wish to rewild, Edhen promises a true return to nature, from the first step on the clay track to the moments before sleep as you drift off to the rustle of leaves. Evenings draw magic from your surroundings as you light the firepit and gaze into the dancing flames, while mornings promise woodland wanders that set the perfect tone for the day ahead. With tangled trees and a wood-fired hot tub on your doorstep, it’s blissfully easy to unplug from the modern world as you reacquaint with your wilder self.

Step Inside

Situated in one of Cornwall’s most wild and beautiful National Landscapes, Edhen promises a truly remarkable escape for two. From the fern-strewn track that leads to your utterly unique treehouse to the quiet woodlands that tower overhead, embrace nature in its simplest forms as you retreat into the trees. Walking through moss-covered trunks, you’ll soon feel the weights of the world lift as you breathe deep and allow your mind to drift. Reaching your heavenly off-grid hideaway, a ladder leads you to the treetops where you’ll make your home, welcomed by the rustic print of the treehouse’s namesake bird. Inside, ambient wooden features create a relaxing space, with a comfy sofa overlooking the woodland scenes below. Whether you want to get lost in a book or your verdant surroundings, the floor-to-ceiling windows create a breathtaking display. Climbing up the steep ladder, the mezzanine double bed promises deeply restful nights, with additional windows offering views across the canopy and the soothing lullaby of the treetops. Open the windows to welcome in fresh air or hunker down and enjoy the toasty warmth of the fully insulated walls and double glazing.

The closest of the treehouses to reception, it’s a short walk to the welcoming shared kitchen, which boasts fridges, gas burners, a running water supply and Yeti coolers that you can take back to your hidden hideaway. Start your morning with a complimentary cup of Yallah Coffee or wind down in the evening with a steaming mug of herbal tea by the fire, where you can also cook alfresco over the flickering flames. In the shared kitchen you can even pick up some local food and drink, toiletries, and Kudhva clothing. Enjoy alfresco dining in its purest form as you gather around the large, outdoor tables, inviting you to bask in the tranquil ambience and #Kudvibes as you feast underneath swaying boughs and glittering disco balls. Flushing toilets and hot showers with Reia body wash and land&water shampoo and conditioner are situated in the same area as the kitchen and shop.

Outdoors

Kudhva celebrates outside living at every moss-covered turn, from the firepit by your treehouse that promises ember evenings to the enchanting alfresco dining area that sits under the historic gaze of a towering engine house. Follow the winding path that reaches into the dappled woodland to find Kudhva’s magical waterfall, which cascades down a 40-ft drop before trickling into the idyllic reservoir. Refresh yourself in the cool waters of the falls or step onto the wooden pontoon that waits at the water’s edge. Sit and enjoy the benefits of forest bathing as you bob on the water or paddle over to the eastern bank for a taste of adventure. With reaching views across the land and sea, the standing wood-fired hot tub can be booked for dreamy one-hour sessions. Wood is harvested from Kudhva and Epsom salts are added to the swirling depths to create a utopian experience high above the rolling scenes of North Cornwall. Whether you long for peaceful moments beneath an ancient tree with your loved one by your side or venturesome escapes with a group of your closest friends – there are two other treehouses and a beautiful cabin on-site – Edhen promises a spellbinding stay amidst the trees, perfect for those who seek to realign with nature and bask in the benefits of off-grid living.

Explore

A stone’s throw from the dramatic coastline of North Cornwall, Edhen invites you to explore a land steeped in myth and legend. The salt-kissed haven of Trebarwith Strand Beach is a short 25-minute walk away through unspoilt landscapes and promises golden sand and rugged rock formations. Unwind on the beach as the waves ease your mind or explore the many fascinating rock pools that are revealed at low tide, showcasing incredible micro-habitats bursting with life. Traverse the coast under your own steam with a kayak or you can join a coasteering tour for a true adventure.

Myth permeates the north coast, winding through the rough-hewn landscape and offering fascinating glimpses into the past. Nowhere quite captures the spirit of the area like the tumbling falls at St Nectans Glen, where ancient woodland welcomes you to step into another world as you offer up prayers and wishes to the fairies and piskies that are rumoured to have once called these woods home. Continuing on to the coast, Tintagel Castle weaves stories of legendary kings and miraculous wizards, with the ruinous remnants still clinging to the clifftops today. The views along this stretch of coast are simply astounding, with the windswept cliff faces and hidden coves sparking legends and myths anew.

With the Atlantic on its doorstep, North Cornwall’s eateries are a true celebration of land and sea, from Port Isaac’s famed Michelin star restaurants where you can dine on the freshest fish to the welcoming ocean-side pub at Trebarwith, which specialises in sea views and local fare. Retreat to the cosy charms of Vega in Tintagel for a mouthwatering range of vegan dishes or simply pack your bags with some local goodies and head onto the coastal paths for a wild and utterly breathtaking picnic.
