A brief introduction to the delights of winter glamping

Surely camping is a summer thing, we hear you say. Who wants to be cold and wet under canvas in the middle of winter? Aha! Is our reply. It’s glamping, not camping, remember? Cast thoughts of mud, rain and hideous trips to freezing washblocks out of your mind RIGHT NOW, and listen up…

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Invigorating strolls on empty beaches. Storm-watching. Star-gazing. Hot chocolate. Crumpet-toasting. Outside: crisp and refreshing or blustery and mizzling; inside: your very own snug cocoon, perfect for a round of cards, a board game or simply cosying up with a good book.

How so? Well, first off there’s those modern inventions known as the ensuite shower and WC. Hot water when you want it? Yes indeedy.

And another thing. The wood burner. Sure, you have to keep putting logs on it, but get those flames going and you’ll be roasty toasty (and cooking up a storm) in no time. Add thick duvets and cosy woolly blankets and you’ll soon be popping in your hot water bottle and sleeping like a baby.

A warming wood-burner

You'll be roasty toasty sat round a well stoked wood burner.

All right, we admit that it’s a good idea to wear some thermals (bobble hat optional) and you might want to pack a hip flask (why wouldn’t you?). But once you’re dressed for the elements you’ll find there’s no chills, only thrills in our warm and cosy venues, whether it’s a hideaway pod, a shepherd’s hut or a cool cabin.

Winter glamping. Try it once and we promise – you’ll never look back.
