A peaceful stay at Juniper
Penned on the 22nd June 2026
Surrounded by rolling hills, green trees and sheep gently grazing, we enjoyed our scenic drive as we made our way to our gorgeous hideaway nestled in Powys, Wales, Juniper.
Tucked away in its own private spot, the hideaway enjoys uninterrupted countryside views, and from the moment we arrived it felt like we'd left the hustle and bustle behind, and we knew we wouldn't be leaving in a hurry.

The owners have thoughtfully provided a wheelbarrow to help transport your luggage from the parking area, so we loaded up our bags and made our way over. Opening the door for the first time was such a lovely moment. The calming interiors instantly made us feel at home, and the welcome hamper waiting for us was a wonderful surprise. Filled with delicious local treats, it was the perfect way to start our stay.

We couldn't have picked a better weekend to visit. The sun was shining, so we poured ourselves a cold drink and simply sat outside, taking in the views. It was blissfully quiet, with just the soft sounds of birdsong and sheep grazing in the nearby fields. It's amazing how quickly life seems to slow down when you're somewhere like this.

As evening arrived, we lit the fire pit and watched the colours across the hills change as the sun began to set. We cooked dinner alfresco using local produce we'd picked up on the way and spent the evening chatting, watching the stars appear one by one. Sometimes the simplest evenings are the most memorable.

The next morning started slowly, just as every morning should on a getaway. Sunlight poured through the doors while we enjoyed breakfast made with the fresh bread, eggs and jam from the welcome hamper. The kitchen had everything we needed, making it easy to take our time before heading out for a walk.

Juniper sits at the foot of Dolfan Hill, so there are plenty of beautiful walks right from your doorstep. We wandered through the surrounding farmland, passing friendly sheep and spotting butterflies dancing amongst the wildflowers. Everywhere we looked there were sweeping views across the countryside, and it was wonderful to see how much care the owners, Natalia and Malcolm, have put into rewilding the land. Nature really is at the heart of everything they've created here.

Returning to the hideaway, there was only one thing left to do: relax in the outdoor bath. Hidden away and completely private, it was one of our favourite parts of the stay. With a soundtrack of birds singing and fluffy robes waiting afterwards, it felt wonderfully peaceful.

We'd talked about heading to a local pub that evening, but once we were back at Juniper we didn’t want to leave. Instead, we cooked dinner, enjoyed decadent hot chocolates, and made the most of one last evening outside as the sun slowly disappeared behind the hills.

Our stay at Juniper reminded us just how nice it is to properly switch off. We spent almost the entire time at the hideaway because, honestly, we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Between the beautiful setting, thoughtful touches, and complete sense of peace, it had everything we needed for a relaxing countryside escape. It's one of those places that stays with you long after you've packed your bags, and we were already talking about coming back before we'd even driven away.
