A railway wagon in Wales with an outdoor bath: With wildflower meadows on your doorstep and beautiful views in every direction, Juniper is a restorative hideaway made for switching off and embracing a gentler pace of life.

Overview

Hidden within a peaceful corner of rural Powys, this lovingly restored railway wagon is designed for slow, nature-filled escapes. Surrounded by rolling countryside on a rewilded farm, this one-of-a-kind retreat invites you to reconnect with the outdoors through fireside cooking, starlit baths, and countryside strolls immersed in tranquility.

Step Inside

Beautifully restored with nature and mindfulness at its heart, Juniper welcomes you into a calming, open-plan space crafted with locally sourced timber and warm oak details. Soft, earthy tones create a soothing atmosphere, while thoughtful touches throughout make it feel wonderfully welcoming.

The light-filled living space includes a well-equipped kitchen that provides everything needed for laid-back suppers after hours spent exploring the Welsh countryside, while the handcrafted dining table offers a cosy setting for morning coffees and romantic meals together. Cleverly designed to maximise the space, the table can also be folded down to create even more room to unwind.

At one end of the wagon, the inviting double bed promises restful nights beneath soft linens, while the comfortable Parker Knoll wingback chair creates the perfect nook for curling up with a good book, listening to the soothing sounds of nature outside, or simply pausing to take in the peaceful setting. Just beyond the kitchen, the shower room offers a calming space to refresh, complete with a shower, basin, WC, and a heated towel rail.

Outdoors

Tucked away within a wildflower meadow on a rewilded farm, Juniper invites you to embrace slower living beneath open skies. Begin the morning with coffee from the comfort of your sun lounger, spend afternoons discovering the surrounding landscape, and as dusk falls, gather around the fire pit for wild cooking and fireside feasts.

For a truly magical end to the day, sink into the authentic Edwardian roll-top bath and soak beneath the stars, then wrap yourself in the soft waffle dressing gown as dusk settles around you.

Explore

Perfectly placed for exploring the heart of mid Wales, Juniper lies within easy reach of the spectacular Elan Valley, where vast reservoirs, dramatic dams, and winding walking trails weave through breathtaking scenery. Beyond your hideaway, a three-mile farm walk winds through ancient woodland and wildlife-rich meadows alive with birdsong, bees, and butterflies. The surrounding area is also renowned for its Dark Sky status, offering unforgettable stargazing, making evenings in feel truly magical.

Spend your days wandering the charming market towns of Rhayader, Builth Wells, and Llandrindod Wells, where welcoming pubs, independent cafés, and local shops await. Nature lovers can visit the nearby red kite feeding centre to admire these magnificent birds soaring overhead, while those looking to venture further afield can explore the bountiful bookshops of Hay-on-Wye or spend a day discovering the wild coastline around Aberystwyth and Borth.

What an absolutely unforgettable stay! Juniper exceeded every expectation and gave us an experience we'll be talking about for years.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable and full of charm, making it the perfect place to unwind and relax.

Paddleboarding in such beautiful surroundings was an incredible experience, and hand-digging for hidden treasures was something I will never forget. Waking up to the gentle sound of sheep in the distance was the perfect reminder that we were somewhere truly special and peaceful.

Every moment felt special thanks to the wonderful hosts, Natalia and Malcolm, and this beautiful setting! We left with amazing memories, a few treasures and already can't wait to come back.
