Unique Hideaways builds a geodome with WilderMe

Perched on the Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall, WilderMe CIC is an inspiring charity offering magical retreats in nature for neurodivergent adults and families with autistic or SEND children.
An incredible and eco-friendly glamping retreat, the site features a collection of geodomes overlooking the sea, each one thoughtfully decorated to create welcoming and calming spaces for guests to relax, connect, and soak up the beautiful surroundings. As a sponsor of one of these captivating spaces, we were delighted to join the WilderMe team for a day of volunteering to lend a hand and learn more about the work they do.
The day began with Nat and Geoff, the charity’s founders, giving us an introduction to WilderMe and a tour of the site. It was fascinating to discover its history and evolution as an important community space, and hear about the activities they host here for families to connect with others and nature in a safe and supportive environment.
Fuelled by delicious fresh pastries and coffees from the on-site café, and feeling totally inspired by the charity’s story, we set to work on a couple of projects: repainting the picnic benches in vibrant, fun colours, and building a new geodome. After a morning of teamwork and the dome’s frame constructed, we downed tools for lunch - the most delicious veggie curry with all the trimmings. The café is now a team favourite! Our day continued with weeding and laying flooring in one of the communal geodomes where a kitchen-diner makes the perfect space for people to come together, share conversation, and look out across views of the ocean.
