Nestled within a forest clearing near the water’s edge, this eco-built cabin feels deeply connected to its setting. The timber-clad exterior melts into the woodland, while the muted tones inside create a calm, grounding atmosphere that draws your gaze outward to the loch and trees beyond. Begin your day with coffee on the deck as the forest stirs, watch red squirrels dart through the branches, and end your evenings wrapped in stillness as light fades over the water. This is a hideaway for those seeking simplicity, solitude, and the deep restorative rhythm of nature.

Cabin in the Scottish Highlands: Hidden among the trees beside Loch Broom, this thoughtfully designed woodland cabin is a gentle retreat shaped by nature, tranquillity, and calm. Built in harmony with its surroundings, it offers a beautifully slow escape in the breathtaking landscapes of the Scottish Highlands.
Overview
Step Inside
Push open the door and step into this Scottish sanctuary where timber walls and soft, neutral tones echo the woodland just beyond the glass. Crafted from trees grown and milled within the surrounding forest, this hand-built cabin feels deeply rooted in its setting, with natural fibre insulation and underfloor heating keeping everything perfectly cosy year-round. The heart of the cabin is the open-plan living area. The well-equipped kitchen, with oven, induction hob, fridge, freezer and practical extras for whipping up romantic meals, flows into a relaxed dining and lounge space. Here, books and games are stacked ready for leisurely rainy afternoons, the Smart TV awaits cosy evenings, and a yoga mat invites quiet moments by the window as woodland light shifts outside.
To one side of the cabin sits the first bedroom, bathed in natural light, with a king-size bed (which can be changed to twin beds) dressed in soft linens. A digital radio adds a gentle soundtrack to slow mornings, and the en-suite shower room offers a bright, refreshing space to start the day.
Meanwhile, tucked just off the living space, the second bedroom offers warm wood-lined walls and another king-size bed (also can be twinned), creating a peaceful haven for restful nights. Its sleek en-suite bathroom features a rainfall shower and heated towel rail, with refillable toiletries and soft bathrobes adding a touch of luxury.
For those travelling with a baby, a cot, bedding, high chair and changing unit are provided.
Outdoors
A sheltered entrance offers space to leave outdoor gear and muddy boots before stepping through the cabin and onto your private balcony. From here, woodland views stretch out towards the loch, with seating for your morning coffee and a hammock for leisurely afternoons in the shade. As dusk settles, gather around the fire pit and watch the light fade across the water.
Step outside and follow the gentle curve of Loch Broom as it stretches into the distance. Wander along the pebbled shore, where you can launch a paddleboard for a peaceful way to take in the scenery, or explore nearby paths that trace the shoreline and climb to higher vantage points, where the Highlands open up in all their grandeur.
Explore
Hidden within a remote and beautiful stretch of the West Highlands, Solas offers the perfect base for exploring land and sea. Just minutes from Ullapool, you’re close to everyday comforts - shops, pubs and charming waterfront restaurants - while still feeling completely immersed in the wild landscape of the North Coast 500.
Take a dip in Loch Broom, kayaking the still waters, or discover the hidden sea lochs and rugged coastline that surround Ullapool. Nearby bike hire makes it easy to explore the Highlands on two wheels, whether by road or mountain trail. Soak up local culture in Ullapool, where music and art meet relaxed, loch-side dining. With ferry connections to the Outer Hebrides, island adventures sit just beyond the horizon.

For those travelling with children, the owners also run an on-site outdoor children’s nursery and forest school club during the school holidays. Rooted in nature, it’s a wonderful opportunity for little ones to explore, learn, and create, while you enjoy a little extra time to unwind.
