The Whistle

We throughly enjoyed our stay at ‘The Whistle’. Perfect getaway in a gorgeous setting. Thank you to the hosts for creating a wonderful place to stay.

My partner and I booked The Whistle for a relaxing two-night break, and it was absolutely amazing. It was very easy to find, and Nick had kindly pre-heated the hot tub for our arrival, which was a lovely touch. He was extremely friendly and took the time to explain everything clearly.

We’ve stayed in a few shepherd’s huts over the years, but this is by far the best one. The pictures really don’t do it justice - it’s absolutely gorgeous.

We were also lucky enough to visit during lambing season and see all the newborn lambs, which made the stay even more special. One evening, we walked to the local pub, which was just a short stroll across three fields.

We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Our stay was incredible and far exceeded expectations, the hut had absolutely everything you needed in a lovely peaceful setting! The hosts were also very friendly and ensured we had everything we needed, and even got the hot tub up to temperature for our arrival!
We will definitely be returning!!

Views and location were great and the bonus of the friendly sheep added ti the experience.

We stayed in The Whistle and let me say it was the most beautiful, idyllic Shepards hut we could have stayed in. Everything was beyond our expectations, no detail missed. We came for a relaxing; cosy weekend away before the festivities and we wouldn’t have changed a thing about it. It truly was an unforgettable stay. We will be back again! No doubt about that.

Nick is so welcoming and friendly, a lovely man, always on hand if needed.

Our stay at The Whistle was perfect, literally everything was well thought out. Location was great, and the Hut itself was brilliant. Hot Tub was lit and ready to use on arrival, the complimentary bottles of cider were cooling in the fridge.. and the milk and cookies came in handy for a late night snack too, what's not to like? The wood store was brimmed with all the requirements for the hot tub, pizza oven, BBQ and indoor log burner. The indoor furnishings were spotlessly clean, comfortable and cosy, the complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soaps were a nice touch too. Cannot fault it in any way, and we will definitely return next year.

Secure, relaxing, peaceful, cozy and quiet. A plentiful supply of logs for the hot tub, pizza oven and wood burner. The TV was a nice touch, as was the supply of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Local cider, fresh milk and cookies upon arrival. Pizza dough and a BBQ pack can be provided on arrival if requested. Also the hot tub can be prepared for your arrival should you so wish. All in all, a lovely place that I would thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful rustic, warm interiors with modern furnishings. The attention to detail was second to none, everything has been fitted so well to provide everything you need yet it feel so spacious. Very private outdoor area, fully equipped with plenty of very comfortable furniture, bbq, wood fired pizza oven and wood fired hot tub.

Such a peaceful place, was lovely watching the wildlife and taking in nature. Exactly as pictured and miss it already.

Probably the most relaxing holiday we have ever taken , quiet and secluded , we would venture out for the day but always end up coming back early because it was so nice , everything was done well and nothing left us thinking we'll if they had done this it would be better it was perfect , we will 100% be back.

And Ernie and the gang where lovely and welcoming who knew sheep where so friendly. :-D

Lovely accomodation in a peaceful location. Great for a short break to get away from it all. The hosts are welcoming and friendly. The hut is great, very comfortable and clean, and had everything we needed. Well-located for getting out to explore the area.

Owners were extremely helpful and kind! The hut was perfectly set up with everything you needed for your stay! The view was great and set up to watch a beautiful sunset!

Nick was a great host who welcomed us warmly. He had the hot tub preheated for us despite the weather being horrible and also offered us to check out late on the Sunday which put us at ease.

Absolutely wonderful stay at the Whistle with my friend. Cabin was exactly as described (if not better) - the bathroom pictures certainly do not do it justice! - and Nick was very kind in lighting the hot tub fire for us whilst we were in West Bay on one of the days! Lovely few days away, absolutely will be returning!

We had an amazing stay at The Whistle was greeted by Nick on arrival who gave us time to settle before coming to explain how a few things worked.
The Shepherds Hut was beautiful & well equipped with little extras such as tea, coffee pods, cleaning products, milk, biscuits & 2 ciders.
The bathroom had hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, robes & bath towels.
The WiFi was a good connection & the rotating TV was a added bonus.
Outside had plenty of seating, the hot tub, wood burner, pizza oven & bbq were amazing you usually get a 'starter kit' but we were supplied with plenty of wood & coal for our stay. We did not use the indoor log burner as the underfloor heating was on & it was warm enough.
The views are amazing & location is good.
Will definitely be returning by far the best Shepherds Hut we have stayed in of many.

We had the most amazing experience at the cottage !!!
The attention to detail was excellent and our host was amazing !!

But really the place was perfect and we'd definitely recommend.

I can’t recommend this place enough, it is truly amazing. Very romantic for a couple but I had 2 nights with my 12 yr old daughter and we had such a lovely time. Sitting in the hot tub chatting and laughing, making pizzas and cooking them in the pizza oven. Feeding the pet sheep and watching a beautiful sunrise it was so relaxing. Will be booking again!

We really loved our time at The Whistle. The hut itself was beautiful, and fully functional. While the outdoor amenities such as the hot tub, and pizza oven, really have the holiday an extra edge. It struck the perfect balance between my partners love of relaxing, and my love of stoking fires!

Nick and Sally were fabulous hosts. The Shepherd hut was outstanding. It was everything we wanted plus more! If you are looking for that relax and re-boot treat, this is a must. We will definitely book again. Thank you Nick and Sally.

The whistle shepherds hut in Somerset is a lovely place to stay. Location is beautiful and amenities are good. The hosts are welcoming but also giving you the privacy to enjoy your stay. While we were there we enjoyed watching the antics of the sheep in the field next to the Shepherds hut!??

Myself and my husband absolutely loved every second of our stay at The Whistle! Felt so welcome on arrival, nick and sally left us welcome gifts (2 bottles of somerset cider, cookies and fresh milk!). We've honestly never felt so relaxed! Views are amazing, hot tub was lush! Bed was so comfortable, shower is amazing! Loved the drinking water tap in the hut. Absolutely loved everything at The Whistle. 100% recommend to everyone, we will definitely be returning! It's worth every penny!

Stay here if you want to unwind and switch off from the rest of the world. The views are amazing, the hut was fantastic. Even the sheep were extremely friendly..We loved every minute..

We absolutely loved our stay at The Whistle and would highly recommend. The hut and terrace were lovely, the setting was beautiful and so peaceful, and the facilities (pizza over, BBQ, hot tub) amazing. Our neighbours, Eric and Tabitha the pet sheep were lovely, like a pair of big woolly dogs and we enjoyed being able to feed them the occasional biscuit (with the owners permission). We had a wonderful long weekend and would love to come back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay and we will certainly be back! This is a great little retreat if you want to detach from the world and reconnect with yourself. The owners were lovely and very easy to talk to. There's a little package with brochures for things to do. The pizza oven and hot tub is a MUST!!! The bed is very comfortable and you have everything you need provided!

An amazing weekend away, I never wanted to leave! The hot tub had been warmed up for our arrival and the log burners all stocked up ready to go with pizza dough ready in fridge! Also loved the fresh local milk and local cider waiting for us in the fridge! Can't recommend enough. I'll miss our neighbours (the sheep). The shower was also fab.

Our stay at The Whistle was pure perfection, we couldn't have asked for anything more and the hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything exceeded our expectations, we would love to return again in the future.

We had never stayed in a hut before so i booked it for my partners 30th and we had such a relaxing experience. The owners where amazing and provided everything you need. The views are beautiful along with the sheep and lambs as your neighbours. Couldn’t of asked for better. Everyone needs to experience this hut. Make sure you get in the hot tub and star gaze. Or wait for sunrise. Thankyou again Nick & Sally. We will definitely be returning

Everything was perfect. Peaceful farm with a few horses and sheep as company. Lovely pub locally.

The website was very easy to use. The only thing that confused me was the book now - pay later scheme which didn't seem to work for me.

The Whistle was a perfect city getaway, filled with everything you could need for a relaxing weekend trip and more. The pizza oven and hot tub were the perfect addition to the property, very easy to use and very fun. The host was super nice and really helpful with getting us settled. 10/10 would recommend and we are eager to return.

Absolutely amazing setting for a fully relaxing break. Our hut, The Whistle was nothing short of stunning, every last detail, was perfect.
Enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings, sat in the hot tub, or alfresco dinning, couldn’t have ask for anything more peaceful.
All that coupled with a Friendly welcome, with home made cakes, local cider and and fresh farm milk .
If you want to escape, and unwind, and want real peace and privacy look no further!! We will back for sure
