Outdoors
After a day of exploring or simply relaxing in the peaceful countryside, fire up the hot tub and spend the evening soaking under the stars with a glass of bubbly. You’ll have plenty of choice for a delicious al fresco dinner - cook up your own pizza in the wonderful DeliVita pizza oven or light up the barbecue for a tasty meal in the glorious evening sunshine. The outside space doesn’t end at your enclosed garden; if you venture a little farther, you will find a secret seating area that makes the most of the picturesque countryside views. Here you will find a love seat, tucked under an oak tree, a charming spot for two.
Explore
It would be easy to spend all of your holiday enjoying this wonderful haven but if you do want to explore the picturesque local area, you won’t fall short of choice. The hamlet of Allowenshay dates back to the 13th Century and is nestled in the heart of the rich countryside of south Somerset, surrounded by fields, woods and chocolate box villages. There are plenty of pubs in the area and you can walk for miles along the footpaths. The nearest larger towns are Ilminster and Crewkerne which have some independent artisan shops.
For a true local experience, head to Perry's Cider Mill where they have been making cider since 1920; be sure to pick up a bottle or two to enjoy back at The Crook. Another destination close by that is worth a visit is Forde Abbey, a historic country house with beautiful, award-winning gardens just waiting to be explored. Slightly further afield but still within easy reach by car is the infamous Dorset Jurassic Coast, where golden cliffs soar high and some of the most preserved fossils can be found. Finish your day off with dinner at the seafront in Lyme Regis (the seafood here is incredible!).
