General
Escape from everyday life in this sleek timber cabin, where chic, minimal styling meets the great outdoors. Enjoy gorgeous views, sunlit days and starry night skies from its huge windows, and listen to nothing more than the sounds of birdsong and rustling trees. A stay at Foxy Loxy is all about getting close to nature, and if you keep your eyes peeled you might glimpse a shy roe deer, rabbits, squirrels and, of course, all sorts of birdlife, from your windows, your relaxing deck or even the bubbling hot tub. The entrancing view stretches over lush, rolling fields towards the distant sea - something to revel in while toasting marshmallows on the barbie, chilling out with a morning cuppa or sipping a glass of wine on the lounger as the sun sets. Squirrel Nutkin (4328 shares this special, 30-acre setting with you, but don't worry - it's set further down the meadow, far enough away to ensure you maintain your privacy.
The adventure begins when you transport your luggage from your private parking space in your very own wheelbarrow. You can lock bikes or larger items in the storage shed before you step inside the holiday cabin, where the feel is light, bright and spacious - a definite case of bringing the outdoors in. The carefully designed living area features floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that let in enormous amounts of natural light and allow you to enjoy the fresh air and amazing views. At one end is a well-equipped, modern kitchen/dining area, complete with oven and hob, microwave, fridge (with small freezer) and plenty of work-top space and storage, while at the other is a comfy, king-sized bed with pretty linens, an electric panel heater and a TV opposite; in between is the snugly sofa where you can enjoy toasting your toes by the roaring wood-burner, a lovely feature that offers a warm welcome any time of the year. There's also a luxury shower-room, with shower, WC and wash-basin, plus heated towel rail and even a motion-sensor backlit mirror.
Out and About
This is the ideal base for woodland walks and coastal adventures. Countryside strolls start at your doorstep, and you can follow a path for just half a mile straight to the village of Lanlivery - and its lovely olde worlde pub, offering fantastic local fare. Cycle the trails at Cardinham Woods or Lanhydrock, or drive to nearby sailing town of Fowey and enjoy its boutique shops, galleries and cafes, perhaps taking a trip out on the water. Lostwithiel is worth a look, full of interesting, independent shops, many of them specialising in antiques, as is Charlestown, where tall ships anchor in the historic harbour. Your nearest beach is Par Sands, just a short hop away, with an expanse of sand and shallow waters. Of course, there are also the delights of the world-famous Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the National Trust's Lanhydrock House & Gardens and, close to home, the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, which also boasts an excellent cafe and gift shop.
