Throw open the windows to let the fresh air in on a gorgeous summer’s day, and light the wood burner for cosy evenings. The lovely fitted kitchen has a full-sized oven and a fridge with an ice-box for those sundown cocktails, while the bespoke dining table with bench seats is wonderful for leisurely dining or playing board games and converts effortlessly into a second double bed, if needed. The en suite shower room features a shower, wash basin, toilet and heated towel rail. A luxurious mezzanine bedroom with double bed and TV is accessed via a ladder. There's also a porthole window so you can keep soaking up those blissful countryside views.

Step outside onto the covered verandah for the perfect place to sit and watch the natural world. Slip into the soothing water of the bubbling hot tub and let your cares melt away. Or if you prefer, savour morning coffee, an evening tipple, or simply a few delightful hours engrossed in the pages of a book in the alfresco seating area with nothing but birdsong to accompany you. Your four-legged friend will love exploring the fully enclosed garden, and there’s plenty of room for the kids to run around too. Cook up a delicious feast on the barbecue and enjoy it as you gaze out at the rolling hills as the sun begins to set.

The Wagon with Faraway Views is off the beaten track yet easy to get to with plenty to do nearby. Leave the car behind and explore on foot along the family and dog-friendly footpaths surrounding this friendly farmstead. The lovely owners have provided a map to help you navigate the abundant trails.

If you’d like to explore further afield the magical landscapes of Dartmoor National Park are a short drive away, offering opportunities for walking, cycling, wildlife spotting, and more. The sandy beaches of the north Devon coast are also nearby, where you can spend leisurely days sunbathing, surfing, or building sandcastles. Lovely accommodation in the Devon countryside. Really off grid and ideal to get away from it all.

We enjoyed our stay at The Wagon! Owners greeted us at arrival and showed us around but also respected our privacy. The views were excellent and we got to see horses grazing in the field every day, farm fresh eggs available to buy from the farm (as well as in the welcome hamper) and were very tasty.
The wagon had a proper oven, so it does not matter if you don't have barbecue weather.

Also well located for farm shops and walks in the area such as Okehampton Castle or the Teign Gorge walk at Castle Drogo.

Definitely recommended.

The Wagon with Far Away Views was an utter delight! The interior is well thought out, cosy and looked exquisite. The outside area was huge and really secure so our German Shepherd could run and play safely to his heart's content. There was a lovely welcome hamper, including a treat for Paddy. It was spotlessly clean and all the facilities we needed. The hot tub was a delight and really warm, even though the temperature outside was not quite so warm! A really lovely stay, thank you ???? Caroline, Sean and Paddy.

We loved our three night stay at The Wagon with our two young children in March. The secluded location with beautiful views made for a very quiet and peaceful stay. Everything we needed was available and there was a lovely hamper with eggs, apple juice and scones as an unexpected extra which we thoroughly enjoyed. The beds were comfy and ample towels provided and it was very clean. We’d definitely recommend The Wagon with faraway views.

I couldn’t find anything negative to say about this place if I even tried! We had the most wonderful stay. The owner met us on arrival, she was lovely and welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble. Also a lovely touch which was a small hamper for us on arrival with Apple juice, eggs, milk, scones with jam and cream! Thank you!
The place itself is a little slice of heaven. Situated perfectly out the way of the hustle and bustle, with the most beautiful scenic views all around. We took our dog which was perfect for her, all fully enclosed gardens with so much space for her to run around and enjoy. The hot tub was perfect the whole weekend. We made use of the log burner which was lovely. The little wooden bench on the veranda was such a wonderful spot for a morning coffee to catch the sunrise, which we did. We cannot wait to rebook here!

A lovely little quiet wagon with views across rolling Devon fields. Well equipped kitchen so you can cook a meal and a few select boardgame options. Hot tub is nice but not recommended in the winter months because the wind is very strong and cold! We stayed for Christmas and there's some lovely winter walks around too.

We absolutely loved our stay at the wagon - it was the perfect peaceful retreat. The views were truly breathtaking, the open skies and rolling countryside made every moment feel like a deep breath of fresh air. It was a great spot to switch off and just enjoy the surroundings, just what we needed to unwind and relax. The hosts were so lovely and we were welcomed with lovely complimentary gifts, even our dog was treated to a little surprise! The hot tub and garden space was a real highlight too – not only was it beautifully kept, but our dog had the best time exploring and enjoying the freedom! We were blessed with great weather, so we were able to fire up the BBQ which is all provided! All in all, it was a tranquil little escape and we will most definitely be back to stay again! 100% recommend!

Amazing location, lovely hosts who showed us around and set up a traditional Cornish cream tea on arrival but didn’t disturb us through the week. Felt very private but also we knew the owners were on hand if we needed anything. Plenty of enclosed space for dogs to enjoy, bbq equipment/coals also supplied which we made good use of on a couple of the warmer evenings, overall couldn’t fault our stay, it was peaceful, relaxing, and a lovely escape from everyday life. Plenty to do in terms of outings locally, or Torquay is around an hour away if you want a beach day which we enjoyed during our stay- alternatively, if you just want to stay in and relax the views stretch for miles, and the hot tub is perfect for de-stressing. Waking up each morning and having a coffee on the porch watching the horses graze was a highlight for us, 10/10 -Thank you again to our hosts for a fantastic stay.

Absolutely beautiful views sitting on the veranda or in the hot tub and looking out over the valley

The place was easy to find, the owners were lovely and showed us around when we arrived. The views were amazing a very peaceful spot to relax and sit in the hot tub or on the porch. Exeter wasn’t too far for a day out and we had nice food at the three pigs pub in crediton. As well as this there’s a co op 5 minutes up the road if you need anything short notice. All in all a really nice place and would definitely recommend.

What a beautiful weekend away, we were blessed with the sunshine the whole of our stay! The Wagon itself is in such an idyllic setting and much roomier than I thought! Our hosts were lovely! The fully enclosed field around the wagon was perfect for our dog and children. We’ve fully embraced the outdoors with a fire every night and stargazing from the hottub! Lots of lovely little extras thought about inc towels camping chairs soap etc everything has been very well thought out so you don’t need to bring home from home & a wonderful welcome hamper on arrival to the cherry jam was to die for! The Waie inn is a short walk across the bridal path (1mile/30mins) a fabulous well priced pub with a large indoor and outdoor play area we spent both days here! We’ve throughly enjoyed our 3 night break here no one wanted to leave!

The wagon was a perfect place to stay for the four of us. Waking up to the lambs and horses with the vast country side views was wonderful. Soaking in the hot tub while watching the sunset was also a highlight. The wagon has everything you could need and the welcome gifts were much appreciated. We would definitely return again.

The hosts were really friendly and welcoming and there were some lovely extra touches such as milk, eggs, juice and fresh scones when we arrived which we really appreciated. The accommodation was beautifully presented, and immaculately clean. The shower was powerful and there was always hot water. The hot tub was great and we used it a lot even though we were staying in February - our children spent hours in it! The setting was lovely and the garden area was bigger than it appeared in the photos so our dog was very happy!

Very clean and cosy, with comfortable beds and lots of pillows to lounge around, good facilities in the kitchen area and bathroom with a nice complimentary gift of eggs, homemade scones, clotted cheese and jam, milk and apple juice. Even our dog had a little surprise. Storm Bert didn't dampen are mood as we settled into a Nordic style hot tub experience with snow on the ground with a lovely view across to Dartmoor in the distance. An eventful evening sheltering from the raging wind and rain outside. Apart from the storm, we all enjoyed our selves in the conditions we were presented with.

Beautiful location lovely and peaceful, Jean and Rob are so lovely and welcoming, lovely little welcome hamper with fresh scones, cream and jam, fresh eggs and apple juice went down a treat after a long wet drive. The eggs were so yummy I even brought some home with me. After seeking advice on nice walks from Rob we visited different areas of Dartmoor which did not disappoint. After a day of exploring we relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed the view across the fields on the evenings it wasn’t raining and when it was we cosied up inside the lovely wagon. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog to enjoy and explore with no worries of him getting out, all in all a perfect little getaway.

Brilliant family stay. Not too much room for a travel cot, so we ended up using the additional bed for baby - wasn't a problem, but just to bear in mind.
Really gorgeous cabin with stunning outdoor space. Lovely to have horses in the field next door!
Hosts friendly but left us to enjoy our family weekend - hot tub was most welcome.
Highly recommend.

The wagon with faraway views really doesn’t do this place justice! This place was beautiful, the finishes both inside and out you can tell were really well thought of and the welcome hamper was the perfect addition. Waking up to the views every morning with the horses in the field was wonderful, and even better our little Pomeranian could roam free around the fenced in garden! Would highly recommend anyone to book here! Xx

It was absolutely beautiful. The photos are amazing but the reality was even more so. The views are stunning and the wagon was so well designed that it felt spacious even with 4 of us. Plenty of space outside for play, near enough to everything we needed (coast, dartmoor, national trust property, big supermarket). The hosts were friendly and helpful. We want to go back!

A last minute tripped booked to enjoy the first few days of 2024 together and what a find!!! The wagon is the most perfectly equipped little home from home with everything you could need for a peaceful and private countryside break. The horses outside our window made it even more magical and moments like enjoying the sunrise in the bubbling hot tub made the stay luxurious as well as humble.
Our welcome was really warm with homemade scones made for us and a mini hamper of treats left inside too. The owners are on hand to help with any queries but ultimately leave you to enjoy your break with privacy, which is perfect!
We can’t wait to be back there, perhaps in the summer so we can enjoy (warmer) countryside walks but rest assured, if you do visit in the winter, the wagon is wonderfully warm and cosy and the crackling log burner is a real treat!
Best staycation! We loved every minute!

Had a lovely stay. Owner are so friendly and welcomed us with a little welcome hamper, fresh eggs, apple juice, cream tea and milk. They don't disturb you, but Close by if you need them. Shops are bit far, so come prepare if you don't like driving all the time. There is a local pub near by, and a lovely restaurant not to far as well, ( walking distance) food really good and not expensive.
Enjoy the views, they are breathtaking from morning to night. Walking in the surrounding fields, all just nature around you, from sheep's, horses, birds & chickens. A definite place to go to and relax, so peaceful.. All was very well, and we enjoyed it. The hot tub is a added bonus. Wagon is nice and cozy, and warm. Lovely inside and outside.

This property was everything we could have wanted and more. We wanted to have a break from the hustle and bustle of busy life and this place gave us exactly that. Waking up and sitting outside with a cup of tea to just the sound of birds and having nothing but fields surrounding you was amazing. The shepherds hut was cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed. Owners were lovely and despite not bothering us during our stay, they weren’t far away if we needed anything. The property is stunning. The hosts met us on arrival and explained everything and then met us when leaving to see if we had a good stay. We knew we could contact at any time if needed, but we didn't need to. We stayed here with 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 15. The hot tub is a great addition. It's set in a very quiet location which is perfect for relaxing and also not to far a drive for some beautiful places to visit. The views are stunning.

July 2022

This was our first holiday off-island in 3 years and sadly we all got Covid within days. Rob and Jean were so kind and helpful. They turned down the heat of the hot tub on our request, as the weather was so hot! They were also able to help with our feather/dust mite allergy requirements. When we were ill they offered to get shopping for us.
There was also a generous basket of their eggs, delicious local apple juice and cream tea waiting for us on arrival!
It’s a beautiful place, so peaceful and relaxing. The wagon has everything you could possibly need for a short stay. Our only very slight gripe was having to build our bed every evening as we’d given the bunk bed to our daughter. If we hadn’t been ill it wouldn’t have bothered us though!
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the wagon!

Our break started well with a super friendly welcome at this picture-postcard shepherds hut. The owners have thought of everything, from the well equipped kitchen to comfortable beds with luxurious cotton bedding.

Unlike many shepherds huts, this one has two separate bedroom areas, making it feel spacious and that you have your own room if sharing with a friend or family. The electric heaters are a clever addition, with the back up of a gorgeous mini wood stove, which we didn't need despite chilly evenings as the hut is so well insulated.

The hot tub is a welcome touch, with the most amazing views. We used it way more than we expected, and loved how it eased us out after long walks in the truly stunning Devonshire countryside that leads straight from the door.

The cabin is a fantastic place for a quiet get away - stunning views, especially while in the hot tub. Great hosts with a lovely welcome basket of home made scones, jam, cream - as well as milk and farm fresh eggs.

We liked the remote ness of the property however recommended that you go prepared as some of the information given on the website is out of date! For example the Ruby Farm shop mentioned closed 18 months ago!

The Wagon With Faraway Views is just perfect for a safe and secluded get-away. It's tiny but really well designed and feels spacious. The views are stunning, and the veranda and hot tub mean you can really enjoy them to the full as you relax. We came away thoroughly refreshed.

We had a lovely week in the wagon, even though we don't live that far from the site, it was perfect for us to get away and enjoy a quiet break.

The location was great with the views, it was also very nice to catch and have a chat with the owners, just a shame we are in these times of social distancing, because I'm sure we may have had a few more chats.

All in all lovely and thank you.

Almost lost for words! A fantastic bolt hole in a beautiful setting. Everything was perfect about the property, clean, well appointed, cosy and relaxing, an absolute gem. A friendly welcome by the owner on arrival along with some tasty scones with jam and clotted cream. Hope to visit again in the not to distant future.

We had a lovely relaxing weekend at the wagon. The wagon was very cosy especially with the log burner going. Set in a beautiful location with spectacular views. Being able to see the stars from the hot tub both nights was truly amazing! We have already recommended to friends and family and hope to return again in the future. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and we felt very welcome.

Myself and my fiance loved our stay for the weekend. The location was beautiful and the accommodation was just perfect! The owners were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating for everything and even recommended places nearby. Being able to bring our dog along was the best little bonus and there was even a little welcome treat for him too! We have already recommended this place to friends and will definitely be coming back again.

The wagon with faraway view is perfect, the location and hosts are lovely , the wagon it self is amazing, having the sleeping space tucked away made so much more sense then spending all day sat on something that would turn into you bed, very swayed to buying one myself as my permanent home, the views and location I may not be able to afford,

A small cosy space that was ideal for a short getaway from the busy day to day life! Genuinely felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but only a short distance from towns and the hot tub was the cherry on top!

We had a fantastic stay at the Wagon. Every need was catered for. Bed super comfy with gorgeous linen and the bedroom space was very romantic. The cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch. The absolute selling point were the amazing views! Sitting on the porch and sitting in the hot-tub was so peaceful watching the horses and listening to the birds allowed us to relax fully. Would highly recommend!

The Wagon was a pleasure to stay in and made for a unique and memorable experience. This was enhanced by the addition of a hot tub, overlooking the spectacular views, after we made our reservation. It was apparent that there had been a lot of consideration regarding the use of space within The Wagon. The owners were friendly and accommodated our unexpected early arrival. The welcome basket was very much appreciated and our Chihuahua thoroughly enjoyed his bone biscuit.

Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

We had a fabulous short break at the Wagon. The Wagon was spotless, well equipped and set in the most stunning location which lived up to the name.
We were welcomed by Jean and a lovely cream tea on arrival. The owners were around on the farm if needed but the Wagon was set in its own field so you had plenty of privacy and being completely enclosed meant our dog had plenty of freedom and thoroughly enjoyed herself too.
We had glorious weather and had the most relaxing break, playing games with the kids and jumping in the hot tub. We would all highly recommend the Wagon and will love to return one day. Thank you!

This is a gorgeous little wagon with breath taking views. I took my mum and her dog stan and we all had a fantastic time. The Wagon is beautifully laid out and spotless. It is kitted out with absolutely everything you need on your hols with plenty of storage for its size. The owners are friendly and helpful and there when you need them but they leave you to your own holiday devices much of the time making it feel like a tranquil remote retreat. I cant recommend this holiday wagon enough!

The wagon was beautifully presented, the welcome pack was delicious and appreciated, there was a surprising amount of storage, car parking was convenient and close by, bedding and towels were lovely and luxurious, and electrical items and the shower were brilliant and worked perfectly. Our hosts were friendly and informative, and there were some fantastic magazines, leaflets and other local information in the wagon which helped us get the most out of our holiday.

Everything about our short stay was perfect. There wasn’t anything I could fault. The wagon itself was beautiful and in the most perfect location with walks in every direction as soon as you step off the farm. Easy access to Dartmoor, local beaches and towns and villages to explore too. Or just sit on the decking soaking up the magnificent view and the sunshine with a drink of something cold or a good book.
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and on hand if we needed but also did not intrude on our privacy. Little extra touches like a vase of daffodils and a welcome basket for us and a welcome bone for our dog were also very much appreciated. They also had a very relaxed manor when it came to us bringing our dog. Having the wagon in a completely fenced off area made the stay even more easy that he could run around free as much as he liked. There was no hassle of him having to constantly be on a lead! I could not rave about this place enough! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! We will most definitely be back.

We had a wonderful short break at the Wagon over the New Year period. Rob and Jean are excellent hosts, welcoming and friendly and very helpful.

The Wagon itself is fabulous; incredibly well equipped and finished to the highest standard. It was very comfortable and very cosy, thanks to the log burner. It's well positioned between Dartmoor and Exmoor and we visited both National Parks. There are some very good pubs locally, The Ring of Bells in Cheriton was particularly good. We've already recommended it to several of our friends!

The wagon itself is a great treat and the surrounding countryside just fantastic. Besides, our car unfortunately broke down and the owners very kindly and very efficiently offered all the help they could - and not mentioning the fine pastries that they do at the farm....

We loved our time here. Perfect for couples or families with small children. The accommodation was spacious and of exceptional quality. Rob and Jean were very helpful and attentive hosts. The position of the wagon is stunning with amazing views all around and it's location in Devon means all areas of Dartmoor, Exmoor, North and South Devon are accessible by car. We look forward to returning soon.

This property is a true jem. As soon as we arrived we knew we had found something special. The wagons location is just excellent, being in easy reach via car to Dartmoor, North and South Devon's coast and even Cornwall. That's without all the little public footpaths dotted around the area. Lyford gorge is a must.....a very long walk but the views are a must see. Rocky found the stay fantastic too being of the four legged variety he found the wagons garden suited all his needs. the boneio in the dog bowl on arrival was enough to let him know he was on too something good. The whole stay surpassed are expectations and will definitely be booking up again

Robert and Jean were excellent hosts and very welcoming to their Wagon.
It was absolutely fantastic and exactly as the photos suggested. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing and just what we needed. The Wagon was of an excellent standard and very well equipped. The basket of goodies that welcomed us on arrival were most appreciated and a lovely touch.
Robert and Jean made sure we were comfortable and warm despite the quite chilly weather and that we were ok and had no problems using the log fire.
Our three day stay was just not long enough in this lovely Wagon and tranquil location so we are already looking to return again in May
