Glamping holidays and families go hand-in-hand, so we wanted to give you the low-down of our top five family glamping sites in Cornwall, all offering an extra touch to make your family holiday even more enjoyable...
Lamorna Glamping, Lamorna, Cornwall
Bluebell, Buttercup and FoxgloveThree delightful safari tents, each with plenty of room for up to six people plus a baby, set in an eight-acre field with glimpses of the sea – what’s not to love! Also within that spacious field are a children’s play area (compete with trampoline, swings, slide, mini sand-pit, outdoor games, badminton rackets and more!) and a fabulous building named ‘The Shed’ – but, boy, is it oh-so much than that! Firstly, it contains an undercover games-room – perfect for keeping the kids entertained on a rainy day – with a mini pool table, table tennis and table football. Secondly, it has a handy honesty-shop, chock full of necessities as well as scrummy treats. And last, but certainly not least, there is a cinema-room, with seven proper cinema seats, Digi box and DVD player! All that and you can walk to lovely Lamorna Cove with its sandy beach too, a perfect family retreat.
Mount View Luxury Glamping, near Penzance, Cornwall
Horizon, Sunrise and RetreatNot only has this fantastic site got two marvellous safari tents, each sleeping up to six people plus a baby, complete with their own private hot tubs and breath-taking views of majestic St Michael’s Mount, there is also a family-sized shepherd’s hut, sleeping up to four plus a baby, with the same amazing outlook and its own hot tub too! All three are sat in a large car-free wildflower meadow, perfect for kite-flying and all things alike. There is even a play-area tucked away at the top of the meadow – complete with a trampoline, swing, climbing frame, slide, football goal and badminton/volleyball net – there’s a handy honesty-shop too and all that the Far West of Cornwall has on offer is within easy reach. What more could you want to a fun family glamping holiday?
Roseland Valley Retreat, near St Mawes, Cornwall A little different to the others but equally brilliant, Roseland Valley Retreat consists of an African-style log cabin and a romantic safari tent, sleeping up to 6 people plus a baby in total. There is so much to keep the whole family entertained here, the owners really have thought of everything to make the most of the stunning grounds. There are 30 acres of lovingly tended farmland to explore – including an enchanted wood with rope swings, leading to a fire-pit and football goals in one direction and a peaceful lake (with an abundance of wildlife to see) and meandering mown paths through fields, to secret picnic spots and a hideaway hammock in the other. There are numerous sandy beaches just a few miles away, as well as the Lost Gardens of Heligan and other beautiful Cornish gardens, tree-lined creeks, waterside villages and picturesque harbours.
Of course, it was very tricky to scale it down to just five - we have lots more fantastic family friendly glamping sites, not just in Cornwall but all over the West Country - click here to see more.
