The Zip Wire Safari at Via Ferrata, Cornwall

With idyllic beaches and rolling countryside walks providing a slower pace of life, Cornwall also boasts an array of dopamine-boosting activities. One such pastime is the charity-based Via Ferrata near Falmouth, where you can experience land, sky, and water through a variety of exhilarating courses. Via Ferrata’s newest addition? An invigorating Zip Wire Safari that tours one of the centre’s historic quarries - it’s the perfect aerial adventure.

Introducing Via Ferrata

Two people watching someone enjoying the Zip Wire Safari at Via Ferrata in Cornwall

Situated in a beautiful patch of Cornwall between Falmouth and Helston, Via Ferrata is a wonderful way to get back to nature in a fun and memorable way, with activities ranging from climbing and archery to coasteering and paddleboarding, and, of course, zip wires.

All these soul-stirring activities take place in a beautiful, historic quarry, providing a rather unique backdrop to your adventures – there are even some trails that loop around the centre, offering even more opportunities to enjoy the fresh Cornish air and historic landscape.

One of our favourite aspects of this activity centre is that it’s charity-led, which means all the profits made from the activities go straight into supporting disadvantaged children and young people. There has never been a better reason to spend the day enjoying the great outdoors.

Zip Wire Safari

Far outshining the usual one-liner zip wires, Via Ferrata’s Zip Wire Safari is a trio of high-flying exhilaration. It’s a great choice for families, too. Children are welcome on the Zip Wire Safari (children between the ages of 10 and 14 must be accompanied by an adult), and parents can watch the fun unfold from the comfort of the cosy café, which serves a delicious array of hot drinks, cakes, and sandwiches.

Upon arriving, a group of friendly instructors will guide you through some safety instructions before accompanying you through a practice course, providing a wonderfully gradual introduction to the activity. The first zip line is an easy-going glide with a slow descent and large landing zone at the bottom, while the second – and fastest of the course – boasts a short and sweet descent. The third and final zip wire is a thrilling end to the trio, with incredible views over the quarry accompanying you for the ride.

After the three zip wires are complete, you have the freedom to fly around the course to your heart’s content during the hour-long experience, giving you plenty of aerial moments of exhilaration and unrivalled joy.
