Overview

Tucked away in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, Ruska is a luxury cabin, surrounded by woodland, open skies and the tranquil beauty of the Forest of Dean. Here, mornings begin slowly, with coffee and birdsong before heading out to explore the wild landscapes on your doorstep. After woodland walks and riverside adventures, return to your hideaway to light the wood-burner, fire up the barbecue or settle into the outdoor bath as the evening draws in. With warm interiors and a peaceful setting, this soulful cabin encourages you to step away from the everyday and revel in life’s simple pleasures.

Step Inside

Wood-clad walls and warm, autumnal tones create a natural backdrop to Ruska’s light-filled open-plan space, thoughtfully designed for cosy evenings and relaxed days. At one end, the bedroom is a peaceful sanctuary featuring pops of colour, inviting you to settle in beneath soft luxury linens on the sumptuous king-size bed for long lie-ins. A sleek and spacious en-suite bathroom sits just beyond, featuring a rainfall shower and WC.

At the other end of the cabin, the modern kitchen and dining area has everything you need for leisurely breakfasts and romantic meals, including a two-ring electric hob, oven, fridge and small freezer. Between the two spaces, a cosy sofa sits beside the wood-burner, creating a tranquil spot to watch a film on the Smart TV or settle in for an evening of board games.

A blanket box beneath the TV is filled with an array of books to browse and games to play, while bedside fans, a picnic blanket and outdoor cushions make it easy to settle into the slower pace of life at Ruska, whether you’re spending the day wrapped up indoors or heading out to explore.

Outdoors

Step onto the covered decking and you’ll find a peaceful spot for morning coffees, leisurely lunches and alfresco moments of calm, with comfortable chairs and a small table overlooking the surrounding countryside and glassy lake. It’s the perfect place to pause with a good book, watch the landscape change throughout the day, or simply soak up the sounds of nature around you.

The beautiful stone outdoor bath takes centre stage, big enough for two and complete with fluffy towels and cosy bathrobes for a touch of luxury. Sink into the warm water beneath the open sky, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Gloucestershire countryside, and let your cares melt away.

As evening falls, gather around the fire pit with a blanket and watch the stars appear, or fire up the charcoal barbecue for laid-back alfresco feasts.

Explore

With the Forest of Dean on your doorstep, Ruska is perfectly placed for stepping out into nature. Wander through the atmospheric woodland of Puzzlewood, follow peaceful trails alongside the River Severn or venture underground at Hopewell Colliery. For something more adventurous, hire bikes and follow the winding banks of the nearby River Wye, or take to the treetops at Go Ape.

For a slower-paced day, wander through the beautiful gardens and historic parkland of Westbury Court Gardens, or head further afield to discover the characterful cities of Gloucester and Cheltenham, explore the historic town of Chepstow or venture into the rolling landscapes and honey-hued villages of the Cotswolds, all within easy reach.

There’s a wonderful array of places to eat and drink nearby. Start your day with a leisurely coffee at Sumz Coffee, tuck into a delicious meal at The Yew Tree in Longhope, or visit the much-loved nearby pub The White Hart or Black Pig Pizza in Newnham. For a local tipple, head to Kingsthorne Wine Bar in Flaxley on a Friday evening or Littledean Tap, open Thursday to Sunday, before returning to your cabin for a fireside evening beneath the stars.

For an extra-special treat, unwind with a restorative treatment. Pure Bliss Spa by Amy can bring a little relaxation straight to Ruska, with treatments available in the comfort of your cabin as a bookable extra.
