Introduction
Overview
Boasting spellbinding views across the estuary, which can be enjoyed from the soul-soothing hot tub or the sun-drenched terrace, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cabin is an oasis of salt-kissed calm you won’t want to leave. Full of unique touches, from the sumptuous super-king four-poster bed to the Tardis that commemorates the cabin’s appearance on Doctor Who, uncover a treasure trove of memories in this far-flung haven in South Wales with the gorgeous West Usk Lighthouse as your backdrop.
Step Inside
The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cabin is brimming with character and thoughtful details. As you arrive at this heavenly hideaway, you’re greeted by the neighbouring 200-year-old lighthouse, adding a touch of maritime history to the dreamy coastal setting. Beautifully restored and lovingly decorated in a subtle nod to the waterside setting, the cosy cabin has everything you need for a restorative retreat by the sea. Inside, an open plan space invites you to leave your cares at the door as you sink into a reposeful reprieve. A gorgeous super-king four-poster bed sits in the centre of the room, promising deeply restful nights listening to the waves gently lapping against the shore. Sleek, blue cabinets draw your eye to the kitchen, where you’ll find all the appliances you’ll need to craft delicious meals during your stay, including an oven, two electric rings, microwave, toaster, and kettle. A vintage table and chairs promise wonderfully slow mornings sipping coffee as the tide ebbs and flows, while the timeless wardrobe offers the perfect space to store your belongings throughout your stay. An ensuite toilet and shower occupy separate rooms at the back of the cabin. Curl up on the bed and watch the Smart TV or simply gaze out the windows at the glistening sea beyond.
Outdoors
Making full use of the southerly aspect, the terrace invites you to spend your days soaking up the sun’s rays as you lounge on the outdoor sofa or wooden deck chairs, before lighting the charcoal barbecue and fire pit for sun-soaked evenings surrounded by the most magical of coastal vistas. Dine on the lovely alfresco table or step into the bubbling depths of the hot tub for a soul-warming soak under the stars. With nothing but the shimmering estuary for company, it’s blissfully easy to lose yourself in the moment as you drink in your enchanting coastal surrounds.
Explore
Perched at the junction where the Severn and Usk meet, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cabin is perfectly placed for coastal explorations. Step onto the nearby footpath for pretty waterside views, or head to the Newport Wetlands for a peaceful wander through reedbeds, where waterbirds and dragonflies reside. For cyclists, you can follow several superb trails, including the Fourteen Locks, which follows the area’s beautiful canals, and Cwmcarn Forest Drive for dappled adventures.
Brush up on your outdoor skills with a visit to Wales Outdoors, which boasts surfing, kayaking, archery, and abseiling, or stop by the Boulders Climbing Centre to try their brilliant indoor climbing walls. The world-famous Celtic Manor Resort is only 20 minutes away and offers golfers the chance to play on one of the best courses in the country.
