Overview
Step Inside
Step through the double doors and into an open-plan living space, which is full of plenty of cosy touches, from the giant map of the island on the wall which is perfect for adventure seekers, to the lovely hardwood floor. Throw open the doors first thing in the morning and let the fresh air flood the room as you enjoy the first cup of coffee of the day curled up on the sofa. If you fancy a movie night, there’s also a satellite TV. When it’s time to turn in for the night, snuggle up in the sumptuous double bed. This can be folded away to allow for even more indoor space in the daytime if you choose. Should there be a cooler evening, simply light the wood burner and let the warmth of the dancing flames wash over you. The spacious ensuite shower room comprises a walk-in shower, sink, WC and heated towel rail. For that extra touch of luxury, bathrobes are also provided.
Outdoors
Mere steps from the door, you’ll find a covered decking area adorned with festoon lighting for the ultimate romantic vibe. Cook up something special on the barbecue and take a seat at the bistro set to savour your creations. Slip into the warmth of the bubbling hot tub and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple as your cares melt away. When night begins to fall, stretch out on the sun loungers and look to the heavens for a magical display of twinkling stars. Your four-legged friends will love exploring the enclosed garden to their heart’s content. The swimming pool is a wonderful way to unwind in complete seclusion, and there is also a steam room for total relaxation.
Explore
The Isle of Wight is the ultimate island getaway, with an abundance of beautiful beaches, miles of coastal walks, and acres of unspoilt countryside stretching before you at every turn. Take a stroll along the coast path to see the spectacular St Catherine’s Lighthouse at the most southerly point of the island. Steephill Cove is also close by, which can only be accessed on foot, making it a delightfully peaceful place to spend a few hours. Don’t forget to seek out one of the renowned crab pasties!
Head to Freshwater Bay to enjoy the crystal clear water, a total dream whether you’re dipping, paddleboarding, surfing, or even just looking. From here you can also walk the Tennyson Trail all the way to the world-famous Needles with their iconic lighthouse.
Visit Alum Bay for unbeatable views of the Needles from the famous chairlift (although there is an option of steps if you prefer!). While you’re there, take in the colourful sandstone cliffs and try your hand at a spot of fossil hunting on the beach.
Nearby Ventnor is a lovely place to visit, where you will find a botanical garden, as well as myriad independent shops and eateries to explore. This is a traditional seaside town, so there are also amusement arcades to try your luck at, and ice creams aplenty to sample. If you pop to Ventnor Haven Fishery whilst in town, you will be able to pick up the freshest catch of the day, just perfect for cooking up on the barbecue when you return to Sunrise And Stars.
Osborne House is slightly further afield. This incredible stately home once belonged to Queen Victoria and features beautiful gardens and a private beach, as well as historic interiors.
Shanklin Chine is a beautiful place to explore for a few hours. This breathtaking gorge has been cut into the rock over thousands of years, for a real reminder of the power of Mother Nature. It’s home to a huge array of wildlife including rare red squirrels. Head down to the beach while you’re there to visit the Fisherman’s Cottage, a pretty thatched pub near the shore. Bliss.
