Houseboat in Cornwall: Hidden along the banks of the River Kennall is a magical hideaway created by shipwrights. You will find your haven in the most peaceful setting where the tide ebbs and flows throughout the day.

Step Inside

This beautiful barge is a complete showstopper. When you arrive, the exterior is breath-taking and the interior is just as wonderful. The creative owners have incorporated historic findings into this soulful escape. The two bedrooms (or cabins) are set at each end of the ship. Both are light and airy, as sunshine streams in through the port windows throughout the day. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and separate toilet. There is also another 'family' bathroom situated next door to the second bedroom. The second cabin has a V-shaped double bed, which can also be turned into two singles. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to whip up a tasty feast. The surfaces have been carefully hand crafted from recycled Falmouth dock pilings. Create your mezze board and pour yourself a glass of wine as you take a seat around the captain's table.

The internet at Mistery 2 can be a little temperamental, but works better in the daytime rather than the evening. However, when surrounded by such natural beauty there really is no need to spend your evening scrolling through your phone. Take a seat outside and pull out a pack of cards or reminisce over a good game of scrabble. The owners also have an impressive amount of DVD's for you to enjoy during your stay.

Outdoors

With the Hull door open, step out onto the large steps made of bulks of dock timer which echo the historical past of the quay. The garden surrounding this barge is simply stunning. Lovely blooms planted in every direction and a polytunnel full of the owners fresh veg. As you explore the outside space, you might notice your quirky neighbours (6 bespoke seagull sculptures). See if you can find all six during your stay! As the day draws to a close, light the impressive compass fire pit. This fire pit cannot be compared to any other we've ever had the pleasure of sitting by. It's the idyllic place to gaze up to the sky and see who can spot the first star. With a mug of steaming hot chocolate in one hand and a bowl of marshmallows in the other, you really will feel a world away from reality. If you fancy a little dance under the moonlit sky and twinkling fairy lights, then you are in luck. There is an outside sound system for you to boogie the night away, in this enchanting setting.

Set within two acres of land which transforms throughout the day from green pastures to a riverside haven, this really is a unique location. You have direct access to the river for paddle boarding or kayaking, but please be aware of tide times. There are perfect places to sit and watch the world go by with a good book and cold G&T. It's quite amazing that with the different tides, some days you may wake to the boat floating in the river and others it's as if the tide was never there.

Mark and Loz, the creators of Mistery 2 have put their heart and soul into building this wonderful space. They have spent time recycling materials to use onboard, such as the doors which are made from Hull City library panels and the teak decking which has been transferred from older ships. They are two very creative people and have built the most unique and impressive hideaway for you to enjoy. They will pop by to make sure you are settled and explain any quirky features about their home. They may also pop along from time to time to water their polytunnel, feed their chooks or quietly potter in their workshop. There is one other neighbouring boat upon this quay, but please note you have privacy and will not be disturbed.

Eco-features

The lovely owners of Mistery 2 have used a wide range of recycled materials to create this magical hideaway. The kitchen surfaces have been carefully hand crafted from recycled Falmouth dock pilings, the doors are made from old Hull City library panels and the teak decking has been transferred from older ships. The retreat also has an EV car charger point.

Explore

The barge sits alongside her own quay dating back to 1720 and was connected to the famous Perran Foundry which exported castings around the world and is part of a Unesco world heritage site. Set close to the main road this really is the ideal location to use as your base for your daily adventures. The ancient trees and tall fence block the sound from the road and ensure this hidden haven remains an serene utopia.

Falmouth is only a 15- minute drive away with plenty of eateries, boutique shops and activities for you to enjoy. There is a pub just across the road and The Royal Oak (known for its good food) is only a 15-minute walk away in Perranwell village. There are also public slipways in both Mylor Harbour and Falmouth if you would like to bring a boat with you.
