Out and About
This beautiful corner of Cornwall is a real treasure and once discovered we are sure you will return time and time again. Pop on those walking boots and head off along the coastal path that leads direct from your door. The circular walk through the charming, twinned villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with its pretty cottages and secluded beaches, is a great hike and more importantly a good excuse to try out one of the many pubs and cafes or hop on the ferry at Cawsand (April to October) over to the maritime city of Plymouth to discover the historic Barbican and Plymouth Hoe.
You'll need more than a day to discover all the delights on offer at nearby Mount Edgcumbe with its historic house, parkland, gardens, artisan shops, cafes and calendar of events and there are further delights to explore at Antony House and Gardens (National Trust). If you fancy a go at coasteering or surfing you can book a lesson at the Eddystone Cafe along Whitsand Bay and in nearby Looe you can join a fishing trip and bring back your catch from the day to cook up for supper.

We had an amazing stay at Rame Head Lookout and the location is absolutely beautiful with stunning views.
The property is so comfortable with everything you need for a cosy stay (even when the wind was howling outside). Parking is right outside the property and super convenient.
The team at Mount Edgcumbe who manage the property were superb and really helpful to sort any issues that may arise. Our thanks to them!!
We loved our stay, got engaged near St Michael’s Chapel on Rame Head and the weather was gorgeous!!
It’s a place that will always be close to our hearts now and we will definitely be back to stay at Rame Head Lookout ??

Lovely property which is just right for two people. Very quiet and peaceful - we saw deer running past the cottage. Great sea views.

Rame Head Lookout lives up to its name with fantastic views. There's something very special about watching the sun go down leaving St Michael's chapel a silhouette on the headland. The house is warm and comfortable with everything you'd want on a stay away. There's plenty to do a drive away or simply go for bracing walks from your doorstep.

What a beautiful place!
A very high standard property with fantastic views and well positioned to explore the local area.
Excellent kitchen equipment and appliances and a superb bathroom (wet room)
Bonus for a place like this is free onsite parking, excellent WiFi, great outdoor space and no steps!
The only thing I would suggest to improve it would be a TV in the lounge area (there is a wall mounted TV in the bedroom).
We went in the summer but for winter there’s a log burner as well as underfloor heating.
Will definitely be coming back!

Rame Head Lookout was amazing.
I stay at Whitsand Bay almost every year, it’s my happy place but never stayed in this property before as I was a bit reluctant to being overlooked by the coastguard station. Them being there didn’t bother me in the slightest.
In fact one of them Mike, came to my help when I got stuck in the property due to a slight fault in the shutter, i couldn’t thank him enough for his help. And the lovely maintenance men Bob and Matt came within 15 mins to fix the problem so I could go out.
From the moment I arrived I felt so relaxed, from the stunning view, communication and cleanliness from Stacey the housekeeping was great.
Never slept so well in such a comfy bed, fantastic shower and hot tub and very comfy new sofa, well equipped kitchen and the list just goes on.
This was just the relaxing week break I needed to recharge myself.
I didn’t want to leave, I had a great time and as soon as I got home, booked again for next year.
Also might add after waiting a few days to see the ponies was very sad to hear they were removed last year.
I did see a deer walk past the fence one evening though and the binoculars were a bonus for viewing all the various boats and ships.

We loved our stay at the Lookout. It was blowing a hooley when we arrived and we could watch the boats out at sea and be grateful to be snug indoors! The lounge/kitchen and bedroom are both very comfortable. Very cosy with the log burner. We had everything we needed. Wet room is spacious with a great shower. Walked the coast path to Cliff Top Cafe (highly recommended) in one direction and Cawsand and Kingsand in the other. Interesting chats with the Coastwatch people was another bonus. A perfect relaxing winter break. Thank you, Classic Cottages - another winner!

This is a wonderful location. It’s not as remote as it looks, with the coastguard next door and the car park behind, but in the evenings you are absolutely alone, and it’s lovely. The walks are brilliant with breathtaking scenery and great stopping off points along the coastal path. The cottage is very small indeed. We’d recommend it for a short break.

We had a great 5 night stay at Rame Head. The view from the window was incredible. We literally sat at the window transfixed with looking out to the sea, spotting all the different boats and enjoying the ever changing skyline. The room was lovely and cosy and the space wasn't an issue for us. All equipment was easy to use. The bed was comfy and the shower hot and powerful. We made good use of the jacuzzi from 5pm onwards when the coastwatch closed up. It was lovely to sit out in the dark and look up at the stars. We had a chat with the coastwatch volunteers who were so friendly and let us view the ships with their binoculars - lovely people. Yes, they are next door which wasn't an issue for us, and given the time of year we visited, we were completely alone. Rame Head Chapel is a must as the views are stunning and the gorgeous town of Kingsand is a 10 min drive. We loved it here, peaceful and cosy. For us, we were the only people in the world. We will return.

Rame Cottage was in a beautiful place with gorgeous views in a very quiet and peaceful setting.
Seeing the ponies and deer right outside the property were an added bonus.
The hot tub outside was really relaxing and a great idea.
Great walks around the cliffs and the shops were not too far away (Millbrook) to buy your daily newspaper.
Overall a really great stay and would love to come back.
Have already recommended this property to friends.

Please be aware that this property is adjacent to and entirely looked over by the coastal look out station manned from 9am to 6pm every day- that is men with binoculars just 10 feet away and looking out over the outside dining and hot tub area. It completely spoiled the experience for us.

The Lookout was amazing with unbeatable views. Everything we needed was on hand and the lovely hot tub was an added bonus. The coastguard volunteers next door were very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. We'd definitely recommend the place to others and we hope to visit again ourselves. We had a really fantastic time, thank you.

I've seen a mix of explanations around how much guests are overlooked by the Coastguards next door . . . the fact is the Coastguards are there from 9am to 6pm (5pm in winter) every day. there are generally 2 or 3 of them. They are on 3-hour shifts. They definitely, clearly overlook the outside terrace - including the hot tub and could see inside the accommodation if they chose to - they open their window so you can also hear their conversations. As it happens, they are a lovely friendly bunch, and keep themselves busy with the task at hand. I enjoyed having them next door and never felt exposed. It's a pleasant little quirk. But people need to make an informed decision.
It's right opposite a popular tourist attraction. And has a carpark just behind it. People come and go all day - even into the early hours. Some forget to turn their car radios off, or have loud conversations as the walk past. I didn't mind too much, but assumed it was a touch more 'remote' than it actually was.
All in all, it's stunning. a 45 minute stroll to a costal village in one direction and a 20 minute stroll to coves and beaches in the other. The views across the channel are spectacular.

A beautiful place to stay for a romantic break or “get away from it all” break.
Fantastic views looking out to sea and sunsets on your doorstep.
Lots of nature and wildlife to see with plenty of trails to walk and hike direct from Rames Head.
Say good morning to the ponies who come and say hello morning and evening whilst sitting in the garden or enjoying your morning coffee looking out over the headland from the comfort of the front room.
Beaches, pubs and restaurants only a short walking distance from Rames head.
Easy access to the rest of Cornwall from this location.
A little less private than expected, with a working coast guard station directly next door during the day with one of their look out windows, looking directly out over the garden area.
Fantastic spot if you’re a star gazer. Very little light pollution.
Property fully equipped.

Really enjoyed the location. Lovely walks right out the door. The wild ponies were a real highlight! Sofa is a small 2-seater, so not super comfy for relaxing inside. Disappointed that the hot tub could not be heated to an appropriate temp for cold days (probably would have booked somewhere else if we had known). Would be great in summer months.

Rame head is an amazing location with fantastic views. The attention to detail on the internal decoration was beautiful. We saw a pod of dolphins with the binoculars provided. The wild ponies walking past made it extra special. We went to the halfway house pub in Kingsand which had a great atmosphere and yummy food. One thing we didn’t realise is that the hot tub is overlooked by the staff of the lookout during operating times.

The view what a place . Coast path on your door step .Wild ponies walking past even the deer came up to the fence line in the morning . And don't forget the friendly cost guards next door .Parking right by the door .Under floor heating works well and as to the little log burner great for those cold nights just after getting out the hot tub . The place is small and well thought out . Take a walk along the coastal path in to Cawsand for a spot of lunch in the bay restaurant where your dog is looked after as well as you. Further walk on to Mount Edgcombe estate for a cuppa and a bit to eat in the orangery or a pint in the pub just before the ferry . Question would we go back? yes yes and yes !

We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year at Rame Head, the views (on a clear day) are stunning. I sat for many an hour gazing out to sea & watching the ponies walk past.
The kitchen is excellently equipped, even scales and a cake tin should you want to bake! The dishwasher was appreciated too, a luxury for me.
The TV is in the bedroom, (we knew this beforehand), so took our small tv with us so we could watch a movie whilst sitting in front of the log burner.
The hot-tub was fab too, we used it every day.
Loads of excellent walks right on the doorstep.
We will more than likely return in the future ??

The location and style of this apartment can't be beaten. Simply stunning. We loved the view, the peace and quiet, and the proximity of the coast path for walking. The walk from the Lookout to Cawsand is one of the most gorgeous bits of coast path I've ever walked. We were treated to a large pod of dolphins on two days of our visit, and the superb binoculars provided really added to the sheer joy of that experience. The kitchen is really well equipped and the hot tub is delicious! The underfloor heating keeps the Lookout warm and cosy, and the wet room with wonderful large, fluffy towels is a delight.
Just a couple of things to be aware of when booking this venue:
The TV is not in the main room, it's in the bedroom.
There is very little storage at the property for bags / clothes etc. Pack light, and if you are the sort of person who likes to pack everything away, you might want to think again.
The sofa is tiny and not comfortable for two people for any length of time. If post-adventure comfort and relaxation is important, this isn't the place for you. Unfortunately it is to us, so we won't be returning - which is a massive shame.

What an amazing place to spend a week!
Great walks right from the door, fantastic places to eat out a short drive away. Views for miles. We had a mixed bag of weather during our week but it was fine. On the days the sun shone we walked miles, and on the days with wind and rain we curled up in the comfy bed and watched a movie and listed to the wind howl outside.
Really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings and on clear nights did some great stargazing, also loved watching all the ships coming and going.
The garden was completely secure and it was lovely to open up the bi-fold doors and let our dog wonder at will. He had a great time watching the ponies make their regular walks past our fence.
We loved the property and the location and are already planning our return.

Amazing location with great accommodation. Jacuzzi is a must in the early morning or evening - wonderful. Ponies and deer past the window. If, like me, you are hot at night, limited scope for opening windows to get cooler air.

We really enjoyed our week at Rame Head Lookout. The compact accommodation suited us and our small Dog. The Kitchen is well equipped & laid out well for such a small area. The Wet room is excellent and well presented. Bedroom was just perfect.
Hot Tub and wood burner worked fine.
The best bits about Rame Head Lookout are the location, the every changing views. I became an expert in identifying the Navy ships going past which in these times was quite reassuring to seethe Royal Navy training!
There is a huge variety of birds & wild life to see and the Dartmoor Ponies were always in view.

Rame Head is a fantastic area. I would highly recommend the coastal walks and walk to the chapel. The scenery is breathtaking and the sunsets amazing. Rame Head Lookout is quirky and we really loved the hot tub and the fact that the ponies are frequent visitors to the coast path right in front of your window. The people in the Coastguard station are very friendly and you need to forgive that they are adjacent to you if you are to enjoy the tranquility, sea views, clean air and the sheer beauty of it all. A very relaxing and therapeutic holiday. Mount Edgecumbe Park is fabulous and the quaint village of Cawsand and Kingsand are a magnificent find.

Had an excellent time here. It is an amazing place with the best location and best views. Just stunning. You are straight on to the South Coast Path for walking in either direction to Kingsand or Whitsand Bay. Horses and Deer daily walking by the front of the property. Walk to the old chapel is amazing. Coastguards being on site with you during the day was a bit weird at first, but after a day just became normal and they are great to speak too. Had a lovely time a looking to book again!!

Rame head was the perfect place to visit to unwind. Everyday my wife and I would wake up to the clear ocean views and enjoy the peace and quiet. We’d walk our dog to the old chapel and enjoy the sunset.
The local pubs and beaches were amazing, clean and friendly. We spent several afternoons relaxing in the sun, And the evenings were spent either in the hot tub with a drink or reading together on the sofa.
Excellent place to unwind, would definitely go back.

Stunning location, lovely apartment and exactly as described. Loved being able to go on coastal walks with the dog from the front door. A truly beautiful part of Cornwall and a really comfortable place to stay for a week. The view on its own would be enough but it’s topped off by the lovely rooms and facilities. I’m not sure anyone could ever get bored of having breakfast looking out on the view, or having the wild ponies outside during the sunset. Truly memorable.
