Shepherd's hut with hot tub in Cornwall: Close your eyes and dream of a magical getaway…open them, and you'll find yourself in this wonderful shepherd's hut, surrounded by glorious countryside and perfectly equipped for couples or a family. Abracadabra!
General
Your adventure will start in the sleepy Cornish hamlet of Warleggan, which has proudly twinned itself with Narnia, the fantasy land of CS Lewis's famous book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Located within 12 acres of rolling countryside, The Enchanted Wardrobe is nestled into a quiet corner of a pretty meadow, and boasts panoramic views of the green fields, moorland streams and historic woodlands of the gorgeous Glynn Valley. Here, you're free to spend the day any way you like: perhaps wake to the sound of birdsong, stretch your legs in the great outdoors, relax with a good book, cook supper on the fire-pit barbecue, watch the sun set from the warming bubbles of the hot tub, and fall asleep while admiring the twinkling stars in the vast skies above.
Inside, the luxury hut is anything but wardrobe-like. It's actually super-spacious and beautifully hand-crafted to the highest quality, with every detail carefully thought through. The simplicity of a timber floor, white-painted planked walls and a traditional barrel-ceiling set the scene, with floor-to-ceiling double glazed doors the stars of the show - throw them wide open to frame the incredible countryside vista that's the backdrop to your holiday. A bespoke fitted kitchen includes everything you'll need to cook anything from a scrummy breakfast to a family supper: oven with integrated microwave, two-ring hob, full-sized fridge, ceramic butler's sink and plenty of cupboard space, while the bijou dining area has a picture window that looks out over the amazing view. The friendly owners are on-site and will help with anything you need, even offering scrummy home-bred sausages and bacon for purchase, but will keep a low profile otherwise. With a comfy sofa and a warming wood-burner (logs provided), the hut is cosy all year round, and there's WiFi in case you feel the need to keep in touch with the outside world. Enjoy lazy lie-ins in the king-sized bed, and little ones will adore the triple bunk-beds that are stacked neatly at the opposite end of the hut. The piece de resistance is a stylish en suite shower-room with a wash-basin, flushing toilet and all the hot water you could possibly want. It's a kind of magic - we definitely think so.
Out and About
Four-legged friends are welcome at The Enchanted Wardrobe and you'll want to take them with you while roaming the wide-open spaces of Bodmin Moor, with its 100 square miles of open wilderness and gravity-defying rock formations. Quaint villages are interspersed among the unspoilt scenery, and a stop-off at an historic pub for a re-fuel is essential, while enjoying the romantic scenery of Poldark country. Discover, by foot or bike, the extensive Cardinham and Lanydrock Woods, both just a short drive away or, for a more gentle day out, tour the impressive Lanhydrock House, Pencarrow. For young or old, seasonal live theatre and shows are on offer at the Sterts Moorland Theatre and the Rum Store at Carnglaze Caverns. Complete your holiday with a trip to the coast - both north and south are easy to reach from Warleggan, whether it's the surfing centres of fashionable Polzeath and Widemouth Bay on the north coast or the sailing town of Fowey on the south. Padstow is the culinary capital or Cornwall, while Port Isaac is renowned as the setting for TV series Doc Martin. There's shipwreck diving and shark fishing in Looe, beaches at Whitsand Bay, a legendary castle in Tintagel and food by celebrity chefs in Port Isaac. From this luxury retreat in the heart of Cornwall you really are perfectly placed to explore in every direction.
