Incredible views of sea and sky welcome you to Copperas Shepherd's Hut, perched on the beautiful north Devon coast, renowned for its wild cliffs, rocky coves and sandy beaches, and the perfect spot in which to switch off, tune out and unwind. Set within a historic farmstead that includes Copperas's sister hut, Wild Pear (4017), a very small campsite and The Linney holiday cottage, this luxury glamping site is fully enclosed and private, so you can read, nap, meditate, practise some yoga or simply wallow in the gorgeous surroundings without any interruptions. In summer, drink in the sunshine, endless ocean and blue skies; out-of-season, this is a thrilling, dramatic destination where, even in less-than-perfect weather, your luxury home-from-home will be super cosy and welcoming.
Hand-built in Somerset, Copperas is made in timeless, traditional style, with sturdy timber walls, a corrugated-metal roof and double doors leading to the fire-pit BBQ area for the ultimate inside-outside experience. The ingeniously designed space features a fold-down double wall bed (with a proper, sprung mattress) that, when concealed, reveals a dining table and comfy bench seats, and the nifty kitchen area includes a two-ring induction hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. All mod cons, in other words.
Environmentally friendly sheep's wool insulation, plus a cosy wood-burner just in case, ensure a roasty, toasty interior all year round. En suite facilities are only to be expected - the neat shower-room features a flushing WC, basin with hot and cold running water and a walk-in shower - and high quality detailing everywhere, from oak skirting boards to elegant ironmongery, are simply the icing on the cake.

The hut was easy to find and in a beautiful location with sea views and very private.
Inside it was spotlessly clean, well equipped and surprisingly spacious. Water was hot and heated towel rail kept the shower room warm. Dropdown bed was very comfortable.
We had supper in the Sawmills pub one night.. delicious fish and chips!
A great place to come back to after walking the coastal paths.
One word of warning is the very expensive farm shop on site.
We paid shockingly over the odds for croissants and rolls!!

The combination of the sea view and log burner is perfect for me. Coastal walks are close by so whatever the weather was doing I was either enjoying the rugged coastline or cosy indoors with my book. The hut is beautiful. Perfect for a little reset.

A very friendly and accommodating host with lots of useful information on the local area. The shepards hut feels luxurious with hotel bedding and sheets but at the same time rustic in the countryside with the wood fire. This hut is an absolute gem with stunning views and an ethereal silence which is just pure bliss!!! We had the most wonderful relaxing time there!!

Lovely stay and would definitely return. The hut was very clean, relaxing, with stylish furnishings that were minimalist and didn't crowd the space. The view to the ocean and farmland is absolutely stunning and you can also see it from the drop down bed inside the hut. Shower had decent pressure and I had no problem getting hot water on demand. A basket with maps, recommendations, and a couple goodies from the farm shop was very much appreciated. And quiet! The mobile signal is poor, which is noted in the cottage description, so be prepared for that. I was unable to make a phone call from the hut. Unfortunately there was a problem with the WIFI while I was there, but the owner did her best to fix it and apologized for the inconvenience. It is possible that even when the WIFI is fixed, the signal might be a bit weak. It's a rural area so I don't think the owner should be faulted for this, but it is something to keep in mind if you need to send a work email. The WIFI at the nearby camp shop was strong.

The shepherd hut was spotlessly clean and very cozy to stay in ( hut picked at random )
The log burner makes it very cozy if it turns chilly in the evening and plenty of firewood is provided ??
Shower and bathroom area superb ?? and a lovely welcome pack including milk in the fridge
The sea view was just amazing from the hut
Take folding sun chairs (recliner) or folding sun bed if you want to sun bathe in the garden area (we had the most amazing weather end of April)
The Boat house cafe at the castle entrance (walk across the road) does thee best breakfast and has to be visited ??????????
Local pub (Sawmills Inn ) is really nice and food is excellent (ear wig the local farmers) in the pub you’ll hear funny stories ??
Fully recommend and Sian who is the lady on site is so nice and helpful - ??????????
Can’t wait to return - Thank you for a great 7 night stay ????????????

Stayed at Copperas August 2023, absolutely brilliant.
Views are great and the hut has everything you need and is surprisingly spacious TBH.
Very clean, the cockerels who came to visit, and stayed with us all day were lovely.
Lovely private area and so quiet.
Shower absolutely superb, as are the toiletries provided, so nice will be buying some when home. Instant hot water, nice touches throughout including radio, a few games, some books to read and some great local recommendations.
A few areas that could be improved, and please don't let this put anyone off as we would go back tomorrow, and have recommended to a friend already:
1. WiFi very poor and hit and miss.
2. Bed is very firm, but this wasn't a problem, slept very well every night
3. Pillows are very soft - but very much a personal choice we prefer them firmer, but didn't spoil our sleep

A beautifully presented shepherds hut in an ideal location but with minimal cooking facilities and a not so comfy bed.

Copperas was exceptionally clean and very well equipped. It is also surprisingly spacious and the views are just stunning. We stargazed at night from the garden sofa. Watermouth cove is delightful and we were well placed for Ilfracombe and the beautiful North Devon beaches. Sian the owner was very helpful and we would absolutely recommend a stay here.

Amazing location, lovely hosts - came to say hi & to make sure all was OK but then left us in peace.
Little shop open in the morning & early evening with ample supplies.
Friendly dogs who came to check up on us daily to make sure we were behaving :)
I was a bit worried about the pull-down bed, but it took less than 1 minute to set up for the night, and was extremely comfy - best nights sleeps we have had for along time. It also gave alot more room and a proper seating area in the evening which was a bonus.
Very quiet, and, although the farmhouse was less than a minutes walk away and a campsite on the other side of the farmhouse, it felt as though we were the only people there as we could hear no noise apart from the animals. It was lovely watching the horses in the evening with a view of the sea behind them as we sat in our own private garden area or lay in bed. Would we go back ? ABSOLUTELY !!
Lots of beautiful areas to visit if you can tear yourselves away from this hidden gem.

We stayed at Copperas Shepherd's Hut for our first wedding anniversary, and it was beautiful, with great facilities and everything we needed for a self-catering break. In a great location, we enjoyed beautiful views of the countryside and sea. The Hut was in a great location for accessing Combe Martin and Ilfracombe.
We particularly appreciated the fresh flowers and basket of jams and juice, a lovely welcoming touch.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, it was great to have a private self-catering property that was clean and felt very safe.

August 2019
We absolutely loved staying at Copperas Shepherd's hut! The location was absolutely stunning and really enjoyed using the firepit/barbeque and seating outside the hut (in our own private little garden with en suite Llamas). The hut is really well equipped and the bed very comfortable. We enjoyed waking up to the stunning view and made the most of this by throwing open the windows and doors and just drinking it all in. It was a good break from technology too. No TV, basic WiFi, no telephone signal - all definite plus points for this stay. The chance to enjoy beautiful landscape, reconnect with nature and disconnect from our usual hectic life! The owners were friendly and we enjoyed the visits from the chickens and the dogs. We thought we'd died and gone to heaven! Absolutely LOVED it and will definitely try and rebook for some proper R & R. Many thanks Nick & Sian for an amazing stay.

April 2019
We had a lovely week in Copperas in April 2019. It's a beautiful place to stay, cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. The ensuite shower room is always toasty-warm and the whole hut is very stylish. The pull-down bed makes the most of the space available and provides an extremely comfortable bed for sleeping as well as giving space for a big table to relax around in the day, with lots of clever storage space under the benches. The views from both shepherds hut on the farm are amazing, they are quiet and private with a panoramic view out to sea, it's lovely to wake up to the sun rising over the water. Brilliant walks from the door, including a pub within walking distance for when we didn't want to cook, and lots of interesting places to explore nearby. Very warm welcome from the owner who left us some delicious local treats. We will definitely return.
