Settled amongst 20 acres of unspoilt broadleaf woodland and rewilded fields, which you will have all to yourselves, there is endless beauty waiting to be discovered. You are spoilt for choice for places to sit back and watch the natural world go by. Cosy up around the firepit, cook alfresco in the quirky outdoor kitchen, hop in the Ranger and discover ‘The Hideaway’, then wander down to ‘Dippers Bottom’, a secluded part of the River Taw, perfect for wild swimming. Inside the luxury shepherds hut, you will find a combination of rustic and stylish interiors, along with sumptuous furnishings. This serene sanctuary is not only a nature lover's dream, but a romantic haven to call home for a little while.
Step Inside
Arriving at Fallows Leap brings with it a sense of calm and a touch of magic. You are bound to be captivated by the beauty of this retreat from the moment you arrive. To the left, sits the gorgeous shepherd’s hut, a stylish, romantic space, lovingly created for two. Walk up the steps and enter the hut to find a combination of rustic and lavish interiors. The sumptuous double bed is adorned with luxury bed linen, promising a dreamy night's sleep. Open the shutters in the morning and allow natural light to gently wake you up. Pop the Roberts radio on and listen to soft melodies play in the background whilst you enjoy breakfast in bed. The rustic kitchen area is full of countryside charm, creating a lovely homely feel to the space. It is complete with everything you’ll need during your stay, including a two ring gas hob, toaster and fridge with small ice-box. If you are kept inside by the weather, the hut is well stocked with playing cards, board games, telescope, binoculars and books, plus there’s full 4G mobile access, so light the warming wood burner and hunker down.
The outdoor kitchen is such a special feature. There is a log store for the firepit, a sink, two ring gas hob and plenty of utensils to assist you in making a delicious meal. Embrace this unique cooking experience then enjoy dining alfresco. Once the sun has set, head to the wooden loungers and get cosy around the firepit. Toasting marshmallows under starlight is sure to be a memory you will cherish forever, there is even a telescope to peer closer into the night sky! There is also a covered outside drying area for swimwear and walking clothes. To the right, sits the separate shower room, in a converted horse trailer. Inside you will find a large sleek shower, perfect for freshening up after a day of adventures. The shower-room is beautifully presented with premium toiletries, a heated towel rail, luxury fluffy robes and slippers, plus a masterpiece of artwork on the ceiling. The whole outside space is illuminated by pretty festoon lighting, creating a golden glow over this enchanting hideaway by night.
Outdoors
And the magic doesn't stop there… At Fallows Leap you have more than 20 acres of private land just for you to explore. Rewilded pastures and enchanting woodland encompass this retreat. You will have use of the Ranger during your stay, with a lesson on how to get around the site upon arrival. So, grab a pocket map, pack a picnic and head out on an adventure! You will soon discover The Hideaway, a rustic woodland shelter crafted from local timber. This hidden haven oozes peace and tranquillity. It is such a magical spot to spend quality time with the one you love most. Light the fire, snuggle up and simply let the hours pass by in each other's company. Sink into the hammocks and listen to the peaceful sound of birdsong… be sure to keep an eye out for the captivating wildlife that often make their appearance here, such as wild deer and buzzards. Stroll along the enchanting river bank and reach Dippers Bottom, another tranquil spot. Try some breathwork, yoga, meditation or journaling here. Again, this area is completely private, with access exclusively for you. Sit back and listen to the calming flow of water or brave a wild, refreshing swim! A stay at Fallows Leap is good for the soul and will leave you feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated.
Explore
Whilst there is so much to be explored from the hut, Fallows Leap is also settled within Dartmoor National Park. An easy two-minute walk from your rural idyll will bring you to the historical village of Sticklepath, where you will find The Finch Foundry and two traditional pubs. Enjoy walks along the River Taw toward the neighbouring village of Belstone. Fallows Leap is lucky enough to be based within the rugged landscape of majestic Dartmoor National Park. As an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is perfect for adventure seekers and outdoor lovers. If you are a keen wild swimmer, be sure to visit Cullever Steps, Shirley Pool and Chagford Pool.
For boutiques, tea-rooms and independent shops head to the market towns of Chagford, it also has a weekly Friday flea market. The town of Okehampton is also nearby, it has a cinema, Victorian arcade, farm shop, butchers and some independent shops. If you fancy a spot of retail therapy, you can visit the bustling city of Exeter via The Dartmoor Line, from Okehampton station, trains run hourly to and from Exteter.
Alternatively, visit National Trust’s Lydford Gorge, with its spectacular waterfall. Or spend an afternoon wine tasting at Alder Vineyard. On a sunny day, head to Bude on the north coast of Cornwall and spend time at one of its beautiful sandy beaches. The best spots for surfing are on the north coast at Widemouth Bay, Braunton and Woolacombe or head to the gentler south coast shores of Exmouth, Teignmouth and Shaldon for great beach days. After your adventures, you will love returning to your peaceful haven for a romantic evening under the stars.

Important Information
Please note, a driving licence is required for use of the Ranger and there may be times when it cannot be used due to unsuitable conditions. The Ranger is only to be used in daylight hours and is not to be used under the influence of alcohol. The land is accessible by foot or Ranger.
Availability, reservations and pricing: £150 - £190 per night
Bed linen and towels are included in the price. There are no extra charges for cots or high chairs where they are listed in the property description on the website.
A non-refundable booking fee of £40 is payable per booking.
