Explore
If you did want to venture out and explore, there is so much beauty to be discovered right on your doorstep. This little corner of Devon is truly special, with countryside surrounding you and the coast just a short distance away. There is an abundance of wonderful towns and villages nearby. Our favourites being Totnes, Dartmouth and Dittisham, all with sweet independent shops, delicious eateries and lovely galleries. You can hop on steam train tours and visit a variety of these towns, along with the combined river-boat and steam railway trip between Totnes and Dartmouth. Totnes is super unique with a weekly market on Fridays and Saturdays. From Dartmouth you can get the ferry to Dittisham, a pretty, unspoilt village.
If you find the seaside calling, head to Paignton, where you will find its vibrant town, wonderful pier and long sandy beaches. Grab fish and chips and enjoy on the harbourside as you watch pretty fishing boats come and go. From here, you can catch the ferry to the bustling town of Brixham. Pay a visit to the Golden Hind, dine at one of its lovely restaurants or take a short drive to Agatha Christie’s Greenway House and delve into some literary history. On a warm summer's day, enjoy an ice cream or cool off in Shoalstones outdoor seawater pool. The River Dart is also gorgeous, you can go on a boat tour and visit the castle or try your hand at watersports, followed by a meal at The River Shack for fresh, locally sourced seafood. For walking and cycling routes, be sure to visit Dartmoor National Park, the South Hams countryside and Haldon Forest. After a day of adventures, you will love returning back to your heavenly haven for a romantic evening under the stars.
